I sat down and watched some of games from 2001 and 2002 today in particular the knights games in round 2 both years and of course belting that mob from over the other side of the bridge :D watching these games brought back some great memorys.
I sat down and I compared the side then to this years side and I think they are very similar eg;

A well balanced back line with speed to burn.

A solid Forward pack.

A good mix of youth and experiance

Good depth in the club

And a coach that cares about the club and all the players not a select few.

What do you think???

2004 sportstab odds to make the top eight=$2.15

yeah i watched CRONULLA 64, KNIGHTS 14 today as well

what a game

we had solid backs which made all the difference for kimmorley to direct
noddy, mullane, rieck, franze, mckenna, mellor, peachey

they must have learned from that day that we can carry the 5/8 position with noddy firing the shots

i just dont think our squad is that strong any more
and i didnt think our 2002 squad was as strong as our 2001 squad

so are we going backwards or is it just me?

I think this years backline is much better then last years, so maybe we're on the up again ;), unless some of the younger blokes stand up I dont think we'll have one like 2001 for a very long time.

My belief has always been that in 2004 if our forwards get on top then we have the speed and ability in the backs to win. I think our forwards wil be very competitive this year - and we have depth to cover any contingency. I'm going to get some of that $2.15 to make the eight - that's giving money away!

We were on a steady decline from 2001 to 2003 in terms of playing strength, and of course results, but the club has recruited well for 2004, and along with some very good young kids coming through, the team should start to move up the table again. But some wins early are crucial for a good 2004, and the draw has turned out to be very good for us. :)

I've had seventy dollars on the Sharks to win the thing.

I bet on them every year. This year at $31:00 my winnings for remaining loyal will be that much better.

and yes Sharkie1973, I have a good feeling in my bones, that we could have an exciting Sharks squad on the park this year. Not as good as 2001 though, which was some of the best attacking footy I have had the pleasure of watching a Sharks side play.

The return of ET, and Stuart Raper, has brought back the positive vibes about the Sharks again.

I would like to make a preditiction but i choose not to. I am confident we will perform better than most predict and most importantly, i am really looking forward to the season. No high expectations but to see some consistent footie. After reading the article in the SMH today, they all sound upbeat.

Bring on the hunt

BTR mabey you should stop defending your little bum chum SS and get a dose of reality. You would then realise that we just threw away the only chance of winning a premiership when Ando quit. We didnt try hard enough to keep the coaching immortal and someone should pay for this henious crime
