If they have a real dig at it. it is the perfect time, you don't want to interrupt the season after origin leading to the finals.

But
Australia vs NZ
CvC
Tonga vs Samoa
Fiji vs PNG
u20's SOO

also some sort of u20s for NZ, trialling their equivalent of origin, or u20 NZ vs u20 P.I's

They can hosts the last game, as well as Aus vs NZ, or the Polynesian game.

But they have to promote it, make it a big deal as the rep week after Anzac day, otherwise can it.

If Queensland still had CvC, so there was a 'first grade' game on all three nights, maybe.

But the Saturday night stuff held no interest for me so it was a bit of a downer weekend.

no.

turn this 1 week break into 3 and put SOO there along with a dozen other tests and games. C v C has more value there because less people will pull out to avoid playing 1 game across 3 weeks. Also, it doesnt screw up the blues if someone gets injured.

not to mention removing the SOO lull in the dead of winter and it creates a bit of hunger for footy. Especially for the top 10-12 teams who start getting excited about the run home for the top 8/4/minor premiership. also, either remove byes or only have 1 per team.

It's been boring and I think we can do without it. Only 2 games, both of which I watched, but neither of which I really cared about the outcome! The only thing I really wanted was my teams players to come out injury-free (considering we had 9 of them) - thankfully, that eventuated!

City v Country is a farce.
Anyone who thinks Daley uses this game to select his NSW squad is mistaken.
Do away with it and leave it international matches only. Like a mini world cup weekend.

This. Make it even bigger. This weekend was important for rugby league.

Yes, but with more rep games
A qld city v country game
Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, PNG to play matches against each other.
Televise the women's league test
Bring back the city v country seconds, where future rep players from the city play a country side of players only playing in the CRL

In its current form - hell no. Complete waste of time, and the amount of withdrawn players who no doubt will turn up for their clubs next week suggests the same attitude within the game.

no. i was all for it a few years ago but the clubs and coaches obviously dont treat it seriously. trent merrin struggled to keep a straight face on sterlo when he was talking about the "injury" which ruled him out

i would rather if theres going to be a break, having origin on stand alone weekends and doing away with this stupid standing down of players and weakening the comp

Yeah I think it's important teams get a break throughout the year. Turn byes into rep weekends as well

Queensland never really "had" it, there was a one-off Origin selection trial back in the 80's, to my knowledge.(Unless there was another game Im unaware of)

I just dont think QLD have the depth to make this game any form of event.

Maybe just stage the QLD Cup City v Country on this weekend?

For mine I think more internationals is the way to go.

This, and absolutely the bolded bit. Or it could be a NSWRL Cup rep side v the Bush.

Not in this form. Include a lot more international teams and maybe. Samoa v Fiji was the best of the week and the players looked more passionate than in the Australian teams.

City v Country is a nothing game now. I loved it for a long time but it's not worth it anymore. Have all the players available for other nations (if eligible i.e. Mead for PNG) instead.

I've thought about the prospect of a QLD City v Country game before, but does anyone know what kind of numbers from both city and country are available? It would be a good chance for players like Sandow and such to get a run... just not sure how many they have. Understandably, NSW have a lot more players to choose from.

As a few qld former players have said in the last week, QLD just does not have the same numbers to do this that NSW do. You want to put a quality game on with good players, well teams outside of Sydney do anyway.

City v Country doesn't appear in the top 20 programs for yesterday at all - so less than 388k watched it across Sydney and Brisbane. Shocking ratings, really.

I've voted no - I don't believe the test is played at the right time of year and as a result CvC is devalued significantly. City/Country weekend with a bunch of pacific/other internationals not involving Australia.
