Well, he is 42 y.o. for starters and this season he has been as unproductive than anytime in his Hall Of Fame career. Last season I thought we saw the end of the great man, and IMO this would of been justified given his poor start this season.
Stats for the last 3 seasons:
2002 Oakland Raiders 16G - 16GS - 92rec - 1211yds - 13.2avg - 75L - 7TD
2003 Oakland Raiders 16G - 15GS - 63rec - 869yds - 13.08avg - 47L - 2TD
2004 Oakland Raiders 6G - 5GS - 5rec - 67yds - 13.4avg - 18L - 0TD
The above would not instill confidence as a Seahawks fan.
Jerry Rice is perhaps the greatest player the NFL has ever seen, he will put even more bums on seats for the rising Seahaks not to mention increase sales in # 80 RICE jersey's (the very same jersey worn by Steve Largent which was retired).
The Seahawks have a brilliant young QB in Matt Hasselbeck, one of the best RB's in the game in Shaun Alexander and a solid but unspectacular WR unit that will learn on the job from Rice and turn them into better players. Darrell Jackson, Koren Robinson and veteran Bobby Engram provide a solid trio, Rice will fit in and the ball come his way 3-4 times a game in Seattle with Holmgren.
IMO Rice will be more of a factor off the field than on it, where he will act a tutor for the Holmgren to the younger players on the team. Jerry Rice is reknowned as the hardest worker off the field...Seattle will be hopin his work ethic is picked up by this young team.
