Rothfield was in the room, and said he heard a stouche behind him but didn’t see it himself, but a couple of young ladies who were working there verified they’d seen it
Should be straightforward then, the Warriors need to move fast. Unimpressed with how George has managed it so far

If half of this is true, we’re in serious trouble
Yeah, we are. I have now heard about the Agar incident, coaches on the piss, that Leka was out reasonably late the night before the game (I know social media can be full of shit) by just being on here or on facebook. I don't listen to pods (apart from Levels) although I see they have a section on Warriors culture which I will listen to this morning.

Let's get it right - the coaches should not be drinking during the week of an NRL game, at least not in public. It's a shithouse look. I am a teacher, and I don't drink during the week because it disrupts my sleep, and doesn't allow me to do my best thinking.

Anyone reckon Ivan's assistants were out on the strip?

The trouble is, we have an owner who absolutely loves getting on the piss, and being seen with people who are names in the game and other industries. So his clear guidelines are, I love a beer, so you're allowed to, too. He's got his daughter there in some role in the side, his son in law is the media guy (albeit he's very good at what he does), he's happy clapping with mates, it's not an environment where there's significant accountability. Which has always been the issue with the Warriors.

Webster came out and said it's up to the team as they're not children. Worried about this season in round 1 is not a good sign.
I heard that...no, they're not children, they're very well paid sports people. We went over early to get the distractions out the way. Clearly, that didn't happen. The sole focus, they told us, was 2 points. Everything else is noise. We would have lost to Canberra in Canberra or Penrose, because we're a very bog average side at present...but it's hard to think we prepared properly for that game. Contrast that with the Panthers and Sharks, who were SHARP. They looked ready, like they'd trained and mentally come to build into the season.

my understanding of the schedule is they spent the first week recovering from jet lag and visiting a few tourist attractions like the grand canyon, going on the strip and then knuckling down in the second week. I am not expecting them to be locked up in their hotel rooms every evening after practice, but i would expect the same routine/behaviour like it would be if they were home in Auckland preparing for a game at Mt Smart.

Aside from Agar’s brain explosion, I’m not too fussed about the other behavioural stuff TBH.

Agree that ideally, we would’ve stayed as focused as Penrith and Cronulla seemingly were, but that’s part of the reason they are where they are and we’re not.

If that nonsense surfaces again when they’re back in their normal routines, then yea of course… deeply concerning.

But personally I'm willing to park it for now, given just how surreal that whole week must’ve been, and see how they shape up over the next couple home games.

If you're okay with this, just imagine the chaos if we somehow made the grand final (I know we won’t, but just as an example). The pressure and hype of grand final week would completely overwhelm us, and we’d end up a total shipwreck, falling apart when it matters most.

Our roster is pretty average, so we need to be smart and bring our absolute best just to win a few games. The moment we drop our standards, any team, even those struggling like the Roosters, who got torn apart by the Broncos last night will punish us. I know it’s only Round 1, and maybe I’m overreacting to how bad we were against the Raiders, but I’ll call it now: we might be headed for our first wooden spoon. I’d love to be proven wrong.

We have to bring more than our absolute best as we also have to overcome the expected shit decisions against us (sin bins that other teams dont get etc). Some people here will we say we are reffed fairly but unless someone can drop some inscrutable empirical evidence against me, im going to maintain my stance.

You’re right; a grand final week could be almost as challenging to navigate. One of the reasons for the old cliche of having to lose one to win one.

But if by some mind boggling fluke we got there, we at least have a handful of heads who’ve done it before. Walker, Capewell, Fish… Webster’s been through it as an assistant coach, Stace was there 20+ yrs ago.

Vegas however was completely new to everyone.
