Wow, so sudden! Overall I think he did a good job. Biggest thing he did that I disagree with would have to be franchising...

Still have absolutely no idea how you can disagree with that, it was one of the best things that could have happened to the game at pro level.

Perhaps Richard Lewis left because he is pissed off at missing out on the RLIF head role? I recall there were reports he was so upset he stormed out of the RLIF meeting when the NZ representative (can't remember his name?) beat him to the top job.

He's been fantastic for the game in England and across Europe. Sure there are things I'd argue over (international eligibility being the main one) but he's done a great job, especially given the constraints the game seems determined to impose upon itself. I just hope to god his replacement is another outsider and not someone imposed by some of the more reactionary club bosses.

seems strange to leave before the world cup, potentially his biggest mark on the sport.

To be fair nad he did try to challenge the Aussies and Kiwis on this one but wasn't successful.

mr lewis has probably seen the impending clusterf**k of doom, in regards to the world cup eligiblity/selection policies, and jumped ship.....i mean why would anyone want to continually bang their head against a wall??

So backseat Dickie leaves RL eh. But what a legacy he leaves. His list of achievements speak for themselves. They are the following:

But never fear I think I may have found a fitting replacement.

Looking at the Euopean rankings I would say he has achieved quite a lot.
What's been acheived in your part of the world ECT?

European rankings? You mean a list of countries that have one team each? Not that Lewis had anything to do with any of that. What's funny is that Dickie gets all the credit for the RLEF, but his backseat driving at the RLIF doesn't get a mention. And of course all of the massive c**k ups at the RLEF don't get metioned either. And then there's the RFL. How many clubs have failed or are on the brink? How has the expansion of SL gone? How much is the naming rights of SL worth? How has Ingerlund performed recently? What has happened to the mid-year Test? All interesting questions for the God of administrators. I think it's hilarious that he decides to leave in the same month as the centenary of Titanic sinking. A few parallels there I reckon.
