So backseat Dickie leaves RL eh. But what a legacy he leaves. His list of achievements speak for themselves. They are the following:

* A profitable RFL
* Increase crowd figures
* A stable Super League structure after years of uncertainty
* The incorporation of much of the amateur game and professional game
* Funding for Sport England for development officers and youth development
.

I agree that it was a strange decision, but it was one taken by the clubs and so has absolutely nothing to do with this thread.

It says wonders about the state of Super League compared to a few years ago that they could go for the advertising rather than grasping at any small financial offer. It shows the security to be slightly more long term, which was not the case a few years ago. Rugby league is a small sport in England and does not have the generous media presence that the game has in Sydney or even Melbourne.

Also, I Richard Lewis is going on to what is a more perstigious post his the sport he grew up with. He has also become Sport England Chairman (after gaining increased Government funding for rugby league - another achievement), so it seems he was viewed as successful by people in other sports.
