I notice you didn't answer my question ECT.Always easy to criticize. If you want to do that you should look closer to home.

Re: Richard Lewis Gone
European rankings? You mean a list of countries that have one team each? Not that Lewis had anything to do with any of that. What's funny is that Dickie gets all the credit for the RLEF, but his backseat driving at the RLIF doesn't get a mention. And of course all of the massive c**k ups at the RLEF don't get metioned either. And then there's the RFL. How many clubs have failed or are on the brink? How has the expansion of SL gone? How much is the naming rights of SL worth? How has Ingerlund performed recently? What has happened to the mid-year Test? All interesting questions for the God of administrators. I think it's hilarious that he decides to leave in the same month as the centenary of Titanic sinking. A few parallels there I reckon.

the mid season test was cancelled at the french request.......but don't let the truth get in the way eh..

and the game in european has grown immeasurably under his chairmanship

and he had to be a "backseat driver at the RLIF" cos he was'nt in charge you bellend

Hahaha. Excuses, excuses. How's the SL going? No answer to that one. What was the naming rights sold for? Signs on a few trucks? FMD. What an administrative genius. No wonder the RLIF never voted him as chairman. He can't even get his own country's elite comp sorted. He'd have probably sold the RLWC naming rights for a billboard in Dewsbury, a carton of beer and a month's supply of salt and vinegar crisps, which Wood would have eaten in a week. In addition to Crusaders going broke for the second time at great embarrassment to the entire sport how many other pro clubs have gone into administration or needed a bail out? Wakey, Bradford, numerous semi-pro clubs. London won't be far away either. I can see why the rat would want to jump from the sinking ship, but he's the captain. He should go down with it.

The Super League clubs voted to turn down a substantial monetary offer from a betting company in order to accept the sponsorship with Stobart, HTH.

LOL. Bollocks. $15 is not a substantial monetary offer. Who negotiated these terrible deals that pitted some betting shop with what was obviously a paltry amount and a truck company who offred $0? I bet the NRL will see the genius of this deal and sell its multi-million dollar naming rights for Billy Slater's photo on a few Lindsay Brothers trucks too. There are local bush leagues who can manage to seel their naming rights and other sponsorships for .... some money. Although I can see their thinking. Not much point giving the RFL money to promote the game when a few photos on sone trucks is 10 times better than they would do anyway. As long as they didn't use the RFL art department for the photoshop work.

Yeah, thought to be worth. Much better to have a few dodgy picks of Rangi Chase and other Ingerlund stars on some trucks that no one will take any notice of. I know I start watching sports because I see pictures of some players I don't recognise on freight vehicles. LOL

I agree that it was a strange decision, but it was one taken by the clubs and so has absolutely nothing to do with this thread.

Are you f**king slow? WHO NEGOTIATED THESE DEALS? The clubs may have voted on which was "best" (LOL) but who lined up such shit deals in the first place? Wasn't the clubs.

So you initially criticized Richard Lewis for selling the Super League naming rights in a non-cash deal. Then, when you were told that this decision was made by Super League club chairmen and not Lewis, you criticized him for not negotiating a substantial cash offer. Then you were told that Lewis did negotiate a substantial cash offer, and you now appear to be criticizing him for negotiating a number of deals and allowing the member clubs to decide which one they preferred? Congratulations on making yourself look like even more of an idiot than you usually do.

In fact there isn't any evidence that Richard Lewis was directly involved in the negotiations at all - all of the reports at the time seemed to suggest that Nigel Wood was primarily responsible for brokering the deals, with no mention of Lewis anywhere to be found in any of the media releases.

So if it wasn't the rat jumping from the ship who f**ked up the deal, it was the fat merkin who is still running the show. Either way - brilliant.

What disappoints me most is that clubs in SL are still flooded with overseas players which was suppose to decrease when licences were handed out.
Some have over 10 imports and even a club like Wigan has 8/9.
I say kill all the loopholes and only allow five non Brits in a squad of 25.

Get Sir Clive Woodward.

Doubt they could afford him.

I'd bring in someone with a bit of TV experience or a media backround behind them personally. RL in England have never understood the London press and sold themselves properly.

The most important thing for the RFL is to get another Chairman who is, like Lewis, from a sporting background but not from a rugby league background. The game needs someone who can think about the big picture, and will not be feeling personally involved in the small minded, parochial calculations of northern club bosses. It would be preferable if the person is not only a good manager of people, but also understands well the marketing and media aspects of sport.

The game has to expand, in the UK and in France, in order to survive, and only the kind of person I have described can help this to happen.
