That's a weak effort at 'hazing', too call it that is a copout. He's just being a dick. Yelling at a bloke over the phone? Lame. Could have at least done something semi-creative or a little bit funny if you wanted to prank the new guy.

Paully do you really think having people calling Carney a deadshit alcoholic f**kface or something to similar effect down the phone would have taught him about 'team culture'? I can't see how anything this Incognito fella has done would have instilled any kind of 'team culture' in Martin or taught him any kind of respect.

'Hazing' is probably always going to be around, but if this is hazing then jeez they need to pick up their game.

who cares, league is a shit bogan f**king game played by westies and lower demographics

I think the issue with Carney, and the issue with Dugan for that matter, is that they were always far too big for their boots. Their whole lives people worshipped them. They played up as teenagers and got away with it because people knew they had talent. So they became 20-somethings and played up even more and continued to assume they'd get away with it.

I firmly believe that if a senior player or two within the Raiders had brought them down several pegs, they'd still be playing for the Raiders right now. Verbal abuse is probably what they needed given they've probably never been disciplined in their life. They would have hated it at the time, and they would have been having the shock of their life and thought it was the worst thing that could happen - but they needed it.

Rookies need to earn their stripes. When they are given a free run, ego's become too big and chaos is guaranteed.

Every single rookie that comes into the NFL would come in with a cocky attitude after being the big fish in the little pond throughout college. They were treated as God's and got used to getting away with being the big man on campus.

Geez guy talk about a sweeping statement. Not all rookies are arrogant jerks and football players are not treated like gods on every single campus in the country, and in some schools they're less popular than other athletes.

this is ridiculous, Martin will never get another NFL contract

At this moment Martin probably doesn't even care about playing again.

Their is hazing and their is hazing, but what Martin went through is bullying. Anyone who supports what he went through needs to take a serious look at themselves.

The longer this goes on the worse its looking for Incognito and Miami.

Players surveyed on hazing incident

Recently suspended Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito does not have the support from NFL peers that he has received from teammates.
Incognito, who has been suspended indefinitely by the team in a bullying scandal that has swept over the league and saw Dolphins tackle Jonathan Martin leave the team, has received public support from many of his teammates in recent days, including quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

By The Numbers

nfl_a_incognitomart_110x62.jpg
72 NFL players were asked to anonymously answer the following questions in the wake of the Richie Incognito-Jonathan Martin scandal. Here are the results:

Which player would you rather have as a teammate?
Incognito 15
Martin 34
Neither 23

Have you been the victim of hazing in the NFL?
True 31
False 41

Have you provided money as a result of being hazed? If true, what's the most you have given?*
True 28
False 44
*Amounts ranged from $40 to $18,000

But in an unscientific survey conducted by team reporters for ESPN.com's NFL Nation over two days this week, Incognito does not have the same level of support from some of his peers. Three players participated from each team surveyed, with 72 players in all asked three questions. The players taking part were granted anonymity.

To the question of which player, Martin or Incognito, would they rather have as a teammate, 15 of the players who responded (20.8 percent) said they would rather have Incognito as a teammate, while 34 (47.2 percent) said they would rather have Martin as a teammate.

However, 23 of those who responded, or 31.9 percent, said they would want neither as a teammate. In all, the results showed that 57 of those who answered (79.2 percent) would not want Incognito as a teammate.

The players were also asked, in true-or-false form, whether they had ever been victims of hazing during their NFL careers. Thirty-one of the players (43.1 percent) answered true, while 41 (56.9 percent) answered false.

In the third question, players were asked if they ever had to provide money as part of a hazing incident. To that, 28 players (38.9 percent) answered true, while 44 players (61.1 percent) answered false.

Those who answered true to the third question were also asked to provide the highest dollar amount they were asked to provide as part of the hazing incident.

A wide range of answers were given.

Some of the answers included $40 for donuts, $100 for Chick-Fil-A and $2,500 and $5,000 for team dinners. In addition, six of the players surveyed said they spent $8,000, $9,000, $10,000 (two players), $12,000 and $18,000.

Those six players did not identify how the money was used.

The NFL is investigating what happened between Incognito and Martin, with noted attorney Ted Wells appointed by the league to conduct the investigation. Wells will prepare a report for NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and league officials, and the report will be made public upon its completion.

Incognito, a nine-year veteran, was suspended by the Dolphins on Sunday for "conduct detrimental to the team,'' amid accusations that he bullied and used racially charged terms against Martin, who left the team last week. Martin, a second-year tackle from Stanford, is with his family in California and has undergone counseling for emotional issues.

During a week when coaches of several teams were addressing the Dolphins' situation, Broncos interim coach Jack Del Rio was asked whether he spoke of the incident with Denver players.

"I did address it with the team,'' Del Rio said. "And I told them hopefully they feel confident if anything was ever going on they would pick one of the channels internally here, whether it be a coach, position coach, head coach, coordinator, anybody in coaching … somebody else in the building, another player, doesn't have to be a captain or a leader.

"If something's going on, let us help you. We like to talk about being family, and we like to think we would be helpful to a person struggling in a particular situation.''

Incognito held meetings at strip club

Recently suspended guard Richie Incognito held meetings for fellow Miami Dolphins offensive linemen at a South Florida strip club and would fine them if they didn't attend, according to a report.

The National Football Post, citing two sources, reported that Incognito expected the linemen to attend. If they failed to show up, Incognito would fine them in the club's kangaroo court and mock them for not being part of the group, one of the sources said.

"Richie wanted to set up Richie's world as a way for everybody to act," a team source told the National Football Post. "Richie thinks everybody should act that way. He doesn't get that some guys aren't into that behavior. Some guys don't want to constantly explain to their wife or girlfriend why they have to go to a strip club."

This is the latest news to surface about Incognito, who was suspended by the Dolphins on Sunday for conduct detrimental to the team amid accusations he bullied and used racially charged terms against fellow lineman Jonathan Martin, who left the Dolphins last week.

The NFL is investigating whether Incognito harassed or bullied Martin, and whether their teammates and the organization mishandled the situation. Martin will meet with Ted Wells, the NFL's independent investigator, at the end of next week in Los Angeles, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Martin, a second-year player out of Stanford, is with his family in California, where he is undergoing counseling for emotional issues.
Martin's lawyer, David Cornwell, released a statement Thursday that said Martin endured "harassment that went far beyond traditional locker room hazing."

Also on Thursday, it was revealed that Incognito was investigated last year for harassing a volunteer at the Dolphins' annual golf tournament by allegedly molesting her with a golf club, according to Aventura, Fla., police.

The original police report states that the alleged incident happened at the Turnberry Resort & Club in Aventura, but no charges were filed against Incognito.

The 34-year-old volunteer told police Incognito had been drinking and was "acting very inappropriate towards her," and that she went to police after Incognito said he wouldn't apologize.

The report states that the volunteer told police that Incognito "used his golf club to touch her by rubbing it up against her vagina, then up her stomach then to her chest. He then used the club to knock a pair of sunglasses off the top of her head" before continuing his aggression toward the woman, the report states.

Information from ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter and ESPN.com Dolphins reporter James Walker was used in this report.

Not sure if Martin will play again (I hope he does), but Incognitos career is over and good riddance to him.

In a league where the following guys are starting tackles:

That's just starters, and only tackles, let alone some of the scrubs around the league playing guard, or name any back up scrubs, those are guys starting this week.

Wake up Ron.
If Jonathan Martin wants to play in the NFL, and that's not a given, but if he does, he'll get another contract without even trying.

 Never get another NFL contract... goodness me Ron. Goodness me.

Absolutely.
They have McGlynn and Cherilus protecting Luck's right side and Anthony Castonzo protecting his blind side. Luck gets hit far too often, and even if Martin cant beat one of them out (doubtful), depth behind them would be a nice change of pace for Luck and the Colts.

Richie Incognito's current troubles are just the latest in a long line of problems for the persona non grata offensive lineman of the Miami Dolphins.

All through college (two schools) and the NFL (three teams), he has been trouble at nearly every stop along the way.
Here's a brief look at Incognito's history of off- and on-field issues:

• As a freshman at Nebraska in 2002, Incognito (according to USA Today this week) bullied teammate Jack Limbaugh to the point where he stormed off at practice.

• Incognito started 13 of 14 games as a true freshman, missing the one against Iowa State because of an in-game fight against Penn State the week prior.

• Incognito was suspended the following spring by then-head coach Frank Solich. The reasons never were reported.

• In the spring semester of 2004, Incognito was charged with three counts of assault after a fight at a party. He was found guilty on one charge of
misdemeanor assault and hit with a $500 fine.

• That following fall, Incognito was suspended from Nebraska and he withdrew from school two weeks later.

• Two weeks after leaving Nebraska, Incognito enrolled at Oregon. A week after that, then-Ducks head coach Mike Bellotti kicked him off the team and told the Oregonian: "There were conditions we had set down and set forth for him to be admitted to our program, and they were not met."

• That next spring in 2005, Incognito declared for the NFL draft. Former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy recently told Dan Patrick that his team red-flagged Incognito for character concerns and removed him from their draft board. So did former New England Patriots personnel boss Scott Pioli, who echoed similar sentiments on NBC Sunday night.

• After being taken in the third round of the NFL draft by the St. Louis Rams, Incognito earned a starting spot and became known for his rough style on the field. He committed 38 penalties, including seven for unnecessary roughness, in 44 games.

• Incognito was voted the "NFL's dirtiest player" by The Sporting News in a poll of 99 players in 2009.

• After several incidents involving fans and then-Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo (during a game against the Tennessee Titans), Incognito was released in December 2009. He finished the season with the Buffalo Bills but spent only three games with them.

• In December 2011, as a member of the Miami Dolphins, Incognito incited Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who was fined $30,000 for punching Incognito during a game.

• Houston Texans defensive end Antonio Smith called out Incognito for dirty play in 2012. In a 2013 preseason game with the Dolphins, Smith swung his helmet during an altercation with Incognito, which earned Smith a one-week suspension.

• Also in August, Incognito was involved in an incident at a Miami Beach hotel in which it was reported he punched a security guard, but his name was cleared, charges were dropped and Incognito was issued only a trespassing warning.

• The incidents with Jonathan Martin, which reportedly dated from his rookie season, and through April OTAs, came to light in November. The Dolphins, after hearing the reported death threats and racist slurs on voicemails left on Martin's cell phone, suspended Incognito indefinitely and reportedly plan to cut ties with him.

Aventura police: Dolphins' Richie Incognito harassed golf volunteer

The then 34-year-old volunteer told police that Incognito had been drinking, and when he was at the hole where she was working, he rubbed her privates with a golf club and knocked a pair of sunglasses off her head with it, according to the report.

"After that, he proceeded to lean up against her buttocks with his private parts as if dancing, saying 'Let it rain! Let it rain!'" the report states. "He finally finished his inappropriate behavior by emptying bottled water in her face."

Former Dolphins wide receiver Nat Moore heard about the incident and apologized to the volunteer, according to the report.

"She felt like he didn't care and thought the whole incident was in fun and games," it says. "Other people apologized for him, but not him."

ESPN - Sapp: Incognito used slur, kicked me

TAMPA, Fla. -- Hall of Fame defensive tackle Warren Sapp said Wednesday that embattled Miami Dolphins offensive linemen Richie Incognito used a racial slur and kicked him during a 2006 game when Sapp was playing for the Oakland Raiders and Incognito for the St. Louis Rams.

"He kicked me and called me the N-word," Sapp, who will join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' ring of honor on Monday night, said on "The Dan Patrick Show." "I looked at him and said, 'You want me to slap you in the mouth, so they throw me out of the game.' I said I got a better plan. I'm going to assault your quarterback and they're going to cut your a--."

"It's the trenches. Some guys teeter right on that edge. But Richie? Nobody's ever had a question that Richie was a dirtbag."

there is no way around it incognito is a scumbag on & off the field and the NFL will be better off without him
