2 stars from the 73 Grand final gone within 10 months of each other.
Gee it's been a tough year for all who have an emotional tie to the club.

Doesn't Bourky have quite a few kids?

Don't forget Skipper Pierce is still fighting with Jimmy the Dancer as well.

Another great passes, cancer got him big time after he beat it a few times, each time it came it was more stronger each time and his body just gave in, As a Sharks Great and as a sharks junior he gave his best for the club, he bled blue, black and white till the end of his life he fought and fought hard the big C, not like the F#@KING players that are playing at the moment no heart no glory, no wonder he died id die to if i sore those so called first graders play at the moment.

Rick Bourke may you rest in peace brother loyal too the end take note Sharks players

Sad news indeed. Rick was one of the most exciting and ehtusiastic players to ever play for the sharks. Why cant we do these men justice while they are around to see it?

RIP Rick.

I remember him at his best, he was one of the greats.

Let us all have a moments silence to honour him.

but don't use his passing to insult the current team alone. You are above that Bullshark, i am sure.this is about Rick, not the current players.

Sharks legend Bourke dies

August 15, 2006 FORMER Sharks fullback Rick Bourke died today after losing his battle with cancer.

Bourke, 51, who was best remembered for scoring the Sharks' lone try in the 1973 grand final, died at the John Flynn Hospital on the Gold Coast at 3am today.

Bourke scored 38 first grade tries in a 10-year stint at the Sharks before finishing his career with a season at South Sydney.

"Rick was an outstanding clubman at the Sharks," CEO Greg Pierce said.

"Those who have known him in more recent times have nothing but admiration for the way he has battled his illness with courage and dignity.

"It is certainly a sad day for the club and our thoughts go out to Rick's wife Lyn, his children Ryan and Tahlia and his family and friends."

NRL CEO David Gallop also passed on his condolences and expressed the feelings of many in the rugby league community.

"As a player Rick's attacking style inspired fans and young playing hopefuls alike," Gallop said.

"His courage during his recent battles with ill health was equally inspiring and we pass on the deepest sympathy of all in the game to Lyn and her family."

The Sharks will distribute funeral details when they are finalised.
