Right song, right movie

I was just thinking about the relevance of music (actual songs) in movies and how, sometimes, a song just fits so perfectly that you can't help but associate the two every time you hear the song. They enhance one another.

So, what do you believe is the best example of this?

Tarantino is superb at it. Also 'Tiny Dancer' from Almost Famous.

However, my vote goes to:

Donnie Darko - 'Mad World'

HD, when i read the title of this thread, i immediately thought Mad World, and youre right... Tiny Dancer goes well in Almost Famous as well.

Yeah it just fits in so well doesn't it?

Such a bizarre movie and the song at the end just adds to the atmosphere.

I might even watch it again once Law & Order Criminal Intent finishes at 2.

Just about every song in Donnie Darko fit perfectly.

The Killing Moon - Echo & The Bunny Men (When donnie is riding home on his bike), Head Over Heels - Tears for Fears (when the kids hop off the school bus and walk into school), Proud To Be Loud - Pantera (at the party), Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division (later at the party) and of course Mad World - Gary Jules (at the end).
