Just about every song in Donnie Darko fit perfectly.

The Killing Moon - Echo & The Bunny Men (When donnie is riding home on his bike), Head Over Heels - Tears for Fears (when the kids hop off the school bus and walk into school), Proud To Be Loud - Pantera (at the party), Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division (later at the party) and of course Mad World - Gary Jules (at the end).

you see director's cut?

never tear us apart - INXS is what is played in the begginning when donnie is riding home on teh bike, it fits well as well.

Scorsese is also pretty good at it.

From Goodfellas 'Rags To Riches' by Tony Bennett and 'Jump Into The Fire' by Harry Nilsson. From The Departed 'I'm Shipping Up To Boston' by the Dropkick Murphys.

"Do you like Huey Lewis and the news?"

they tour America to sold out joints once a year.
They do a 3 month tour and then just kick back for the rest of the year.
sweet.

Scorsese is also pretty good at it.

From Goodfellas 'Rags To Riches' by Tony Bennett and 'Jump Into The Fire' by Harry Nilsson. From The Departed 'I'm Shipping Up To Boston' by the Dropkick Murphys.

The coda of 'Layla' playing in the background of a particular montage in Goodfellas was well chosen I thought.

Most of the Kill Bill soundtrack fit beautifully too - however ostentatious it was, it just worked.

And surprised nobody's brought up 'The End' in Apocalypse Now. Not to mention of course 'Ride of the Valkyries'...
