It was the first thing I saw when I turned on my computer this morning. Very shocking and it happened to yet another larger than life character of our game. I feel for his family and the cricket community. Feeling for Haydos as well....his good mate.

Couldn't believe the news when I read it this morning, brain still waking up, trying to comprehend what I'd just read.

Was at my local gym half way through a workout when I saw this news flash up on one of the news screens. Utterly shocked. Couldnt finish the workout I wanted to, just felt utter shit.

I cannot believe whats happened this year. I'm still in shock, we've lost another champion cricketer. Roy was certainly well liked by many in the cricket community and was entertaining to watch. Another one of the great characters taken too soon and very young.

I feel for the family, my condolences go to his wife and kids and also his close mates. Even though former team mates of his and collegues of Fox cricket who are still coming to terms with the death of Warney.

No doubt Warney and Roy are having a few beers upstairs.

Really sad news. Loved watching Symonds play he was a true entertainer. Saw him get 150 at the SCG in an ODI and it was one of the best innings I’ve ever seen.

I saw his 156 in Wellington live, in 2005. Absolutely destroyed us with brute force. One hell of a player. Probably the best all-round fielder i've ever seen. He had that intimidation factor in the field.

I quite enjoyed his commentary for Fox during the last couple of BBL seasons too. You could tell he was a deep thinker about the game. Also appreciated his dry sense of humour.

Life isn't fair sometimes. RIP Roy.

I remember that innings i would have been 8 years old and it was a school night.

I think the game started at 7pm straight after the news on channel 9 who had the coverage.

By the time Roy got out there was closer to my bed time but parents allowed me to stay up and watch Australia bat there innings.

What a sliding doors moment for Roy it was who had never performed at that level before that day despite having numerous chances.

I dont think he was even supposed to play in that game injuries & suspension meant Australia had no choice especially with Warnie being sent home the day before.
