Cummins and Sutton..

Why would anyone aspire to be a ref when these clowns tarnish all of those who choose the job.

I was going for the Roosters to go back to back out of spite but after that debacle I just felt totally deflated.

What a shit way to end a season.

Teddy? Oh...you mean Tedesco, the ex Tigers junior you poached. Got it. You guys have any juniors? Asking for a friend.
Poached or tigers too cheap and didn’t think he was worth the money? https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/te...s-lament-losing-gun-no-1-20190711-p5269r.html or does everyone who had a good junior think they should be paid the same as any other junior? Or are the tigers living in a fantasy that if someone becomes good at senior footy that they would be at that same level if they stayed at their local junior club. Read Teddy’sreferences at how the roosters continued to develop him and not have such a dysfunctional management team - look at how they treated Farah. So yeah, you could say poached or you could say decide to leave.

Yes that's the one

We strive to one day have juniors in a similar vein to known Newcastle juniors like

Kalyn ponga
SKD
David klemmer
Mitchell Pearce
Aiden Guerra
Connor Watson
Hymel hunt
Mason lino

I was about to post the same thing. Throw in Moga, Buhrer, Edrick Lee, Glasby, Gavet..........

Once upon a time a knights fan could take the higher ground in that regard, not these days.

The saddest part of all this is how the supporter bases on either side react when we all know it is only a matter of time before the shoe is on the other foot - such is the general incompetence of refereeing.

This shouldn't be a Roosters/Raiders thing. Just fix the refereeing FFS. It's so f***ing obvious that the rulebook needs fixing. I hated when the zero tolerance approach came in for shoulder charges and punching but at least it is a black and white rule. There needs to be more black and white in the game, too much grey areas which the refs screw up.

What a stroke of luck, that only the Roosters, were the only team that could offer this to the best Fullback of his generation.

Don't worry, Ponga will be at the Roosters by 2021.

Hopefully all this hysteria and the poor ratings across the season ( I believe the GF had the lowest ratings since 2002? )
Gives the NRL the kick in the pants it needs to give the game an overhaul. If the NRL get rid of the wrestle, get rid of the over officiating, consistency at the judiciary, stop sending every try to the bunker ( maybe bring in captains challenge ?) they'll be going along way to bringing fans back.
With a new TV deal its important to get those rating up. Hopefully VLandys is the man to do it.

Anyways, back on topic, the call didn't cost the Raiders the game, it cost them the chance to put in a kick. I'm sure the Roosters will be using all this talk of they should be having an astrix next to the premiership as motivation for a 3 peat...can you imagine how insufferable their fans would be if they won 3 in a row :/

Well TV viewers are down a staggering 33% in the last 5 years

Or 1.35 mil viewers

Seems a LOT of people are walking away from the game

Yet more people watch rugby league than any other sport in Australia and the gap is growing bigger. Either people are watching less sport and rugby league has held onto its fans more than any other sport or people are watching sport through different platforms!

Last week fox showed some classic grand finals, the games from the eary 00's stood out as the way we should be getting the game to look.

The games were open, teams throwing the ball around attacking from their own half, plenty of offloads ( I think SBW offload every time he touched the ball in the 04 GF) the game was fast and skill full. There was no wrestle and very little interference from the ref.
If the game looks like this in the future the ratings will go back up.

Classic games up into around 2014 you see much better standard and how you want the game to be. Less tries a game now too on average year on year. Hopefully there is an overhaul before it is beyond repair

Much of this is attributable to the negative nancys on Channel 9.

Gus & Joey are cancerous with their incessant bitching and moaning.

If Vossy was the primary figure calling league on 9 you'd have higher viewing figures.

The only way to stop the wrestle is with lots of interference from the ref.

If I was to ever walk away from the game, it wouldn't be because of the rules or the refereeing, it would be from how utter garbage so many rugby league supporters are, over-hysterical and abusive bunch of merkins, from juniors up to NRL, this thread and the whinging since the GF being prime examples. Goddamn shut the f**k up already.

If rugby league was to ever die, it will be the fans that kill it.

5 hitups with supersonic rucks, followed by a pinpoint bomb to the corner.

NRL, as envisioned by the likes of Harrigan, Ribot, etc.
Enthralling stuff.
