If The bush is ignored, it will leave pretty much the Raiders as the only team actually doing decent work in regional NSW.

AFL has quickly and easily gained a majority of control over the battle of the bush mainly because NRL/NSWRL/CRL put up as much fight as a tired slug.

You mean Brett White?

You mate, it is all falling on your shouders.

Surely the new IC cannot ignore bush footy more than the NRL has ?
Given the NRL has no legal juristiction over bush footy, you are right. Lets hope the IC has a commissioner specifically for that role.

Anyone looking after bush rl?

Are you kidding? Have you had a lobotomy lately and gone totally blind with all the wanking you do about Rugby League?

The AFL has gone gang busters since they got an IC including making massive in roads into junior development in non traditional states all over Australia. They are the envy of all sports of in this country.

I know which of the two bodies I would prefer running ALL facets of our sport.

Does anyone still think News Ltd should have a say in appointing "independent" commissioners to run the game?

They could not run a club without having the wool pulled over their eyes.

And we got to see their definition of "independent" today.

News and the ARL currently run the game so they get to pick the commissioners, both parties have to argee with the commissioners picked.

This will stay until someone can think of a better way?

i am not very envious of vlad's propaganda machine - it smells - and some of the cracks are beginning to show - as they always do

I don't know about everywhere else but in northern NSW AFL is no bigger than six-a-side midget indoor netball. They picked their "Country" team this week and I noticed there wasn't a single player from north of Sydney in it. The CRL doesn't have to put up a fight against it because it's nothing. AFL has no "majority of control", whatever that means. RL could do with a lot of help from the big end of the game but it's hardly being squeezed out by the AFL. Union is a bigger threat here and that's where the NRL could help, but they don't, not much anyway.

Of course we need A commission. But not THIS commision. Some people are willingto take the first half-baked idea that comes along but they don't seem to realise that we are stuck with this plan forever. If we don't get it right now we might be marginally better off than having News own half the game but the game might still be hamstrung by this new structure with no chance to fix it later.

the ic is a good thing, but im worried about the sport being too club focused which may hurt international rugby league!

You're right.

The game will still be run by the News Limited scum AND the ARL dinosaurs AND the corrupt club bosses that sold rugby league down the river in the superleague war.

Instead of Arko and Packer, you've now got Searle and Gallop. Different turds, same public toilet.

I do worry that when the IC comes in that Origin will die off as it did in AFL. the clubs will worry about their players getting injured in rep games and wont want it to continue, so they make sure the guys they select to the IC can it.

I also worry that they will be too concerned with giving too much of the financial pie to the top grade players. and forget that they need to remember the grass roots of the game to ensure it continues on in the future
