if they have such a big bank balance why are they scabbing millions of every state government?
Thought that would be pretty obvious. Why pay for something, when you can get someone else to?

pretty sure it's a lot cheaper to go to fumbeball games
AFL 2010 crowd attendances = 7,145,488
NRL 2010 crowd attendances = 3,490,778
3,654,710 more people. Hypothetically average ticket price $30 = $109,641,300
Who gives a f**k about the AFL and where it gets its money from besides perth red (JB).
.
aren't we the sensitive one? Personally I think measuring ourselves up against our biggest and closest competitors is a useful thing to gauge how well we are travelling. I also think it is relevant to find out why we are so far behind our nearest competitor in terms of income generation and have our CEO explain this. We claim to be the biggest code in the country yet financially we aren't close to our nearest rival, you might consider this irrelevant to a RL discussion forum, I do not. This has nothing to do with AFL, it could be the ARU, soccer Australia or Netball if they were competing against us for jnrs, fans and $'s. As it happens AFL are our biggest competitor and have put out the war flag with their continued push into NRL territory. Time to start askign the tough questions and stop thinking that a bigger TV deal is going to solve all the games financial issues.
RL sh*ts on AFL in merchandising

Maybe, it was just a stab in the dark. Seems like a reasonable average price. Anyone here actually paid for a fumbleball ticket.
nope
but here's an example http://membership.collingwoodfc.com.au/2011-packages/season-ticket-membership
Well who would want to wear a lame singlet...

Depends on the Team and State.
West Coast and Freo fans pay through the nose for Memberships (full ticketed 11 home games with reserved seat as the only option, unlike most of the mickey mouse Vic memberships). There are limited cheap memberships so most Eagles members pay in the $300 + range. The severely limited General Admission tickets are $40+.
I haven't been to an NRL game in years. Whats the rough price for General Admission at say the SFS or Suncorp?
Fumbleball games in Melbourne are cheap as chips.
Overall much cheaper to go to the fumbleball.
