Anyone read Rugby League Week today? They claimed that Jamie Lyon is demanding a release before June 30 and is threatening the club that if he doesn't get one then he's going to go public about his fallout with Brian Smith.

I don't know if this has any merit or not but if it does then this is a disgraceful act by Jamie. It's one thing to walk away from a contract but to do something like that just to get his own way is pathetic in my opinion. I don't care if the fallout is Smith's fault or not, but to go to these measures is is just plain selfish.

If it was true, I don't see what going public would achieve for him. The club would almost certainly then dig their heels in and tell him to enjoy his next three years not playing football.

There is a simple solution to the Jamie Lyon saga; let the Wee Waa dead heads buy out his contract for 250K, a transfer payment, untill then he can milk cows and not the Parramatta club for the next 3 years. A contract is a contract and the club should be compensated for non performance.

If there is some truth to the rumors going around then Parramatta should stick to its guns, we cannot have the players dictate terms and we cannot have coaches blackmailed into submission.

If true (and it came in "the mole" artilce so I'm not sure if it is) Jamie can go public but then he will not play for 3 years and no team will bother waster $50 and an oveweight bum who has been pulling beers (and other things) for 3 years.

If not true then both Lyon and Smith should sue "the mole" for every cent they have as I doubt they even have a dollar to their name.

Jamie has refused to speak to the media previously.

Why would he all of a sudden go from one extreme to the other.

Should be made clear it was the reporter's words.

From the club's perspective I still wouldn't be giving him a release, stand their ground and don't bow to pressure. It just seems like a no win situation for em.

I have seen Brian Smith and Mick Vella interviews on TV that say Jamie sent players text messages.....they are their words which the reporters printed.....maybe they are both lying???.....I'd like to hear something from Jamie about this rumour tho.

Club might release before june 30 to free up cap space anyway. Not sure how all that works.
We don't release and his salary still counts against next years cap, we release he then signs with the roosters. :roll:
