I suspect, hope!, Vlandys is trying to get some money out of Albo to host it here and in PNG/PI's. Playing it in Oz, PNG and Fiji would be awesome then next one solely in NZ.

They’ve priced them same as the super rugby games. Ga not bad but main stand is ridiculous cost for a trial

I would love to see some of that “soft diplomacy” cash go towards a 2026 Pacific Islands WC, hosted by NZ, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, PNG and maybe even New Caledonia for the French angle.

Aus gov’t to build some sustainable RL facilities and programmes and some temporary stadiums.

RL would be the first major sport for as long as I can remember to take the game back to the people. A major event that is sport for the sake of sport, and not a commercial behemoth.

A World Cup at its absolute rawest, financially cushioned by a healthy soft diplomacy budget which would do far more to sure up the region than spending squillions on PNG.

Heck, can you imagine the tourist dollars that would be achieved?

Lebanon also demoted but having qualified already will be allowed to play

IRL just love making up the rules as they go along. Why does Lebanon get to keep their spot if they don't satisfy the minimum requirements whilst other nations (who were previously told they were eligible) miss out?

Either all affiliate nations or ineligible or they are all eligible to qualify.
