I just recieved new tickets in the mail for this game saying there were lighting problems and the kick-off time is now 4pm.

Old tickets won't work anymore so when you send them back you get a free RLWC Cap.

I don't see why lighting would be an issue, maybe they aren't International Standard or something. I have played and trained there countless times and there has never been trouble with the lights. Many QLD Cup games and NRL trial games are held there each year and none opf those have ever been re-scheduled because of lighting.

There are no PAX numbers on these tickets, they're sold through a local rockhampton agency not ticketek.

The game will be televised and most regional grounds, even pretty good ones, won't have lights good enough for television games. That's why Channel Nine used to erect temporary lights at the City/Country when it was played at regional grounds even though the same venues hosted trial games without the need for extra lights.

I think your right ECT watching skys national league last 2 years coverage you see why televised games need a certain standard of lighting!

Because the Qld govt paid for the rights to host seven games and they've built the new stadium at Rocky so they wanted a game there. It's probably the second least important game of the tournament anyway.

Are they like those wood raffle tickets? Do you get to keep the colourful stub?

I think they are playing the game in Rocky because

(a) It's a minor game
(b) The Qld Government would have had a large input into this decision. It's more of a tourism based decision then a rugby league one.

I'm not sure why they're taking a game to Rocky but I'm not going to complain.

Rocky is RL mad and should sell out the game even with the distinct lack of advertising and it being a minor game.

ECT I'm not sure what you meant by "new stadium" but Browne Park has been around for as long as I can remember.

My bad. For some reason I thought they'd built a new ground in Rocky. Maybe it was Mackay.

Maybe you heard about it being upgraded.

There have been some small grandstands (probably only 10 rows) added along one sideline and a few up on top of the hill aswell. There was also a net put up behind those grandstands because the ground is so close to the road if the net wasn't there every time a team kicked for touch it would end up on the highway no doubt.

I still think they will be hard pushed getting in 8000 which is the supposed capacity.

As i have said from the start, this game was always going to make the Cup look like a piece of sh*t. now it is proving me right.

FFS why host a match at a local club ground. Rediculous.

Ricky Stuart's wrote article talking about the old union world cup being played out of Concorde oval. Well just wait till the pictures come out of a half empty, local grade footy club, stadium.

Well done RLIF.

Spastics of the highest order.

I disagree, the game is relitively pointless but will still sell out I'm fairly confident of that. The real embarrasment will be the ranking game at CUA, unless they give tickets away for free I can see less than 5,000 turning up to that.

IMO it would have been more embarassing if they took this same game to Perth, Adelaide, Sydney or Melbourne, people of those big cities would not show up unless you were giving tickets away but in Rocky it's a fairly big event and the locals will turn out. I know the main grandstand sold out about 6 months ago.

That's right. If you take a game to somewhere that would normally never get a big game you'll get a big crowd. To Penrith people a rankings game between Scotland and Ireland, for example, would be nothing but to a regional area it's a big event.

What's the problem? The game is going to a regional area that will almost certainly sell out, as opposed to hosting it in a metropolitan area where the game would be lucky to get a few thousand. The CUA rankings game is a far worse decision than this.
