Anyone got a pax for Christchurch tomorrow ?. Tonga vs Samoa will go close to selling out. Eng vs Lebanon will get 15 k. 12 k tonight wasn't horrible, just more cash in the coffers for international rugby league to grow the game in the future.

Westmead children’s hospital are giving out free tickets to staff, up to 4 each for England v Lebanon.

12,293 official attendance.

Not much less than the Kiwi test.
I am working in Canberra atm and everyone I'm working with was going but the weather was crap all day, it was freezing and rain kept coming over. In the end we went home early and everyone by then had decided to watch the game at home. So the crowd result is actually understandable.

Yet union can sell a no match to the Australian public like the one posted earlier, Australia v Namibia. Maybe RL fans are just cheapskates.

Stop living in the past.....that was 14 years ago...the RWC is a far superior international game to rugby league and their organisers are on a different planet to ours.

The fact 12,000 turned up last when CAT A tickets were $75 is a great starting point. But the issue is Rugby League won't build on it.

Let's not forget crowds are down in the NRL this year so to get 12,000 To a game where the result was always going to be one-sided is a positive. When was the last time Australia played France in Australia? Like 1990's?

Seriously? You think 12,000 to watch Australia in a WC with a two year lead in is acceptable? Fourteen years ago or not the RUWC still managed to persuade the Australian public that the Wallabies playing Namibia is an event not to be missed! I bet the expensive tickets to that match sold out quickly too. Aussie fans haven't had a WC for nine years and they won't get another one for another twelve years. Judging by the turnout they won't be missed. You have a national team who rarely plays and when they do next to nobody can be arsed to watch. Maybe the Kangaroos should wrap up and let the rest of the world get on with it whilst Australia can indulge themselves in the NRL and SoO.

Stop comparing Diamonds with Apples......

And like I said their administration is light years ahead of the current mob running this RLWC...so what do you expect. And like I keep on harping about, the preception in Australia and NZ is that the RLWC is a joke as most of the teams are made up of mainly Australian, NZ and English born players. That is the public perception...until that is changed this going to be the result for International League....

I'm not getting into an argument and high jacking this thread...but stop comparing our sport to other sports that are way more advanced in all aspects of their International game. Compare to something measurable like the previous RLWC in Australia or the last RLWC.:)

Australia v France would get a higher attendance in England than it would Australia. I couldn't say the same of England v France in Australia. We managed to sell out a 25,000 seater stadium for a guaranteed England win v Ireland. Maybe we value the international game more than they do in Australia. Could NZ host a WC on it's own or with a PNG group? NZ at least appear to be showing some interest in this WC.

I wonder.

Will this WC be the last International league played in Australia for more than 2 years?

If Australia is having a break next year, they likely wouldn’t play any match until this time in 2019? Is that right?

No doubt at all that other nations take Internationals more seriously then Australia, there is a big elitist attitude here towards it. A lot of fans here will always be just NRL and/or Origin fans. NZ on a 'down' trend may average more for their home games in this World cup than the Kangaroos.

I like the idea of a 'Pacific World Cup' with most games and the Final in NZ with the rest spread between PNG, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Hawaii (USA) and New Caledonia (France).

Whether or not it would ever be viable or all those places could work together to male it happen is another matter. That would be my ideal scenario for 2029.

Also love the Pacific WC idea. Australia isn't living up to its promise as host. Final and opener in NZ. Pool games across Pacific. Leave Australia out of it next time. The crowds won't be a bi problem. Big issues would be corporate backing and flights.

Yep. Post season 2019. Yet the NRL maintains it's support for IRL..lol
