Wests Vs Roosters= >=16,000 first friday home game for the tigers...

Cowboys Vs Bulldogs= 25,000-30,000 A huge game for the cowboys marking there 10 years in the Nrl.. people up there are really geared up for the game.. plus the NQ has won 5 of its last 7 and drawn one...

Panthers Vs Eels= 18,000 The battle of the west..

Storm Vs Nz= 9000 I doubt the ticket offer to Afl members will increase the crowd that much

Broncos Vs Raiders= 26,000-28,000 After the game 2 at SOO a few more plus some good broncos form..

Newcastle Vs Manly= 12,000 In the past this has been a big drawing game for the knights but i reckon recent form of both the sides will let the crowd down..

Souths Vs Saints= 25,000 Huge game and well done Nrl for making it the sunday game..
Cheers ;-)

I'm not so confident of a big crowd for the Cowboys/Bulldogs game. I'm guessing 'only' :) about 18,000-20,000.

This is a 5.30 Saturday game and while that doesn't affect the ability of the people in Thuringowa or Townsville to attend that's only a combined population of about 155,000 or so.

Within a 300-400 km radius you can boost the local population to about 400,000 ish (and yes - you can be 400 km [or more] away from the Cowboys home ground and still be a NQ local :D)

I don't have any figures to back this up but I feel that the usual Cowboys home crowd for a 7.30 Saturday night game is is about 25% or so of people outside the Thuringowa & Townsville cities (over 100+ km away).

While not as bad as a Sunday game, a 5.30 Saturday game does affect the ability of those 'far travelers' to make it to the game (working commitments/family sports etc). If it's a 2+ hour trip to get to the game and you can't leave home until mid-afternoon those people would have a difficult time to make it to a 5.30 kickoff (and for an example, I'd guess that for a 15,000 7.30 Saturday night game about 3,000 of the crowd would be from over 200 km away).

Going back to my crowd prediction, if the crowd is about 20,000 then I'd say that if the game was played at 7.30 instead of 5.30 it could of been a full house (about 25,000 now - the 30,000 ish record crowd was pretty much standing room only. They don't let that happen now for safty reasons [I think])

Anything under 25,000 / 27,000 for the SCG game will be dissapointing. Both teams are on winning streaks, there's the SCG factor & it's meant to be fine & 21C on Sunday afternoon...

I know for a fact that there's going to be a huge travelling Saints contingent going.

Cheers,
Ben S.

Winning 2 games does not put you on a winning streak.
Unless you're Souths.
Oh wait...... :D

The Storm v Warriors game will get 10k. Due in part to the number of expat Kiwis here, and also the AFL ticket offer... if it gets promoted huge over the next few days.

Next Friday's game against Penrith will be the Storm's biggest crowd this year. Friday night games bring out the crowd. Everyone I know has at least 2 extra people going to that game!

South’s Vs Saints- I don't know! St George have been on fire lately and it being played the SCG will HOPEFULLY Bring massive support (10-15 thousand Dragon supporters, come on Dragons Army!!!!!), South’s have won two games in a row and have shown spirit, determination and a never say die attitude... South supporters PLEASE come out in force! Show them your proud of the Boys and show them the spirit and tradition of the most famous RL team is still alive! (About 20,000 South fans)...

I'm being a bit optimistic
Get Out And Support Your Team!!

Steaming Stormer: Agree about the Storm vs Warriors, no AFL in Melbourne will be a telling point. I went to the EJ Whitten Legends Game last night, a charity Aussie Rules match with proceeds going to prostrate cancer research. I overheard quite a few people talking about it being their "fix" of footy as there's no AFL in Melbourne this weekend. I was easily recognised as I was the only person there wearing Storm jersey, jacket and cap. ;-) Although I did see one other person there wearing a Storm jacket.

In regards to the game against Penrith, you know me, and I am unable to get anyone extra to that game. Although I have got at least 8 extras coming to tonights match. :D
