RND 3 2012: v Souffs Sydney

We apparently weren't ready to start the game when it did, those first 3 tries were straight up embarrassing.

We got monstered by a forward pack which has been under performing for years.

24 points on the board isn't a bad haul. Just some weak defence at crucial points hurt us.

Walsh played pretty well I thought. Jennings didn't get much chance in space, but he's got a mean fend on him. Some moments of brilliance, a couple of chip and chases that nearly worked out, that Burns try was great. In fact almost all the tries we actually scored were very well executed.

Souths got a very fortunate run early on, not to take away from their win, but if we'd had our head in the game from the start it could have been a very different match.

Those penalties against the kicker... they really put us out of the game. The first one may have looked worse than intended, since the kicker was moving upwards and it looked as if he was trying to grab him around the waist (not target the leg, as the commentary suggested), but it was still reckless. Then to follow it up almost straight away with a shoulder charge... the refs were never going to look favourably on that.

I has the same thought. My team Souths come ready to play, your team well I thought they were in warm up mode up to around half way through the first half.

We should have learned from the Dogs match that we shouldn't lose our composure if we got ruffled.

We 'll learn from this as its still early days.

But Lewis must be playing injured...he doesn't seem himself with the body language he is giving off.

Maybe he is getting offers from elsewhere.

Wow that was worth racing home to watch on TV. Everyone running across field. No urgency getting to the loose ball. Very poor. We need some mongrel in our pack the softest pack in the NRL?

Our pack was flat out dominated, McKendry was very poor, Weston tried hard but they were really bad, didn't bend the line at all, Souths were making easy metres.

Agree on Lewis, he looks average at best at the moment, too much sideways stuff.

Jennings did little, Coote pretty unthreatening.

Burns and Walsh did all they could, this team just lacks genuine gamebreakers.

Austin looked good in limited time, he needs to play more minutes

We were just flat.

Souths were hot.

I think it is that simple to be honest.

Lewis has been below average all season thus far. Not sure why.

I don't think it's being captain that's the problem. He done it the last few years everytime Civ was on the bench

We have 2 genuine game breakers in Lewis and Jennings. The problem is, nobody is creating opportunities for them. They receive the ball flat footed, in traffic and are expected to try and create something out of nothing. We need a half back that will take the line on a bit more and a 5/8th that passes occasionally.

He is on the left getting rubbish passes from Burns. The roaming with the 13 on his back he should be better.

Being on the left doesn't change anything.

Ivan let's his players roam.

I don't think he is fully fit.

I hope whatever it is...it isn't serious. We need him at full strength, 100% as soon as possible. I hope it is sooner rather than later.

Lewis has had a lot of football in recent years with his club and rep commitments. He probably hasn't been at his absolute best but at the same time we are still a few class players short of competing with the best sides. The one thing the fans should never question is his commitment or legacy to this club. It was somewhat sad to read what was said about Trent Waterhouse throughout last season. Trent was a Panther legend and the criticism directed his way was very sad. Hopefully the same fate does not come the way of Luke Lewis.
