only an issue if the club is paying overs for meals..

eg. if a regular punter pays $19.95 for a hamburger & chips, but if a tigers player (paid by the club) is paying $29.95 for same meal..

sending business to your mates / people you know vs paying a stranger is common practice in all industries - it's not illegal..

it depends where the funds come from.

if he put his corporate card over the bar, technically, this should be reported on your group certificate as part of FBT reportable amounts stemming from food & entertainment for staff & employees.. although this is generally not reported on by most companies.

if it's out of his own pocket, it could just be beacause he likes you (or needs to get you drunk for one reason or another..)

The salary Cap is a joke.

Just say a player starts a construction company and employs other players from his team. His company says is sub contractor for a major builder who happens to be a club sponsor.

The league has no power to investigate the construction company's books or the sponsors.

It's a bit dodgy, but not a massive issue I wouldn't think.

And as for subcontractors and stuff like that, wait til Tinkler starts playing.

I think it's a bit dodge... what's to stop Beau Scott, Liam Fulton and Bryce Gibbs charging players $1,000 a go at their skill tester machines and then getting the club to pay. Similarly, can't Farrah charge $10,000 for a "special" steak on a "special" night for each player?

i think the real concern for Robbie is, if he didnt have this setup where the club pays for players meals so that they eat there (i.e., when he retires), would he actually get any business? I know where Leicha Tiger is, but it's upstairs there in the old universal hotel above norton plaza. You can easily miss the doorway up to it from norton st, and if you're not actually looking for it, you'll never notice it.

Farah wouldn't be seeing much profit right now, anyway. He wouldn't be cutting himself a wage as manager or whatever. Even with the footy show plugging him, it's still just pub food.

The salary cap can be manipulated in so many ways.
Offering careers after football is one of the best.

Not exactly true, there's minor benfits limits. It would be fbt if he's taking you out to tetsuya's and shouting you grange, but if its a few drinks at a pub (i think 300 worth) then its not fbt. Its to stop the need for xmas parties to be fbt'able.
