Robbie Farah > Smith

Smith is a good player but he is no where near the player some people talk him up to be (I.E - The best player in the game). I can't understand how anyone can ever think that. He does all the 1% plays very well and is a great footballer, but he doesn't have the game breaking ability of the elite players and I just can't understand the hype.

Just seems a case of someone in the media said he's the best player in the game, so everyone decides to quote him. When your down by 6 with a minute to go, you don't look for Cameron Smith to get you out of trouble.

 He's not Johnathon Thurston by any means but he's still by far the best hooker in the game. The only reason people are saying differently now is because of Melbourne's poor form post Origin which, hilariously, has happened in the past. People have really short memories.
And as for not being a go to guy if you are down by 6 with a minute to go, well I'm sorry dude, at that point it's hail-mary time anyway and he, Cronk and Slater are certainly capable of that. No hooker in the game is as consistently excellent in all areas of play - kicking, passing, dummy half running, defence, etc - as Smith. Cronk and Slater usually get the big wraps for the scintillating attacking plays but many of them are set up by him in the previous play, or through a superb tactical understanding of the game.

We're seeing 2 different schools of thought here again. This often happens in these types of threads. It all depends on what sort of player the person/poster prefers.

Some people prefer a Jarryd Hayne type of player who is flashy at times and brilliant at other times, but then can go missing for large periods and can have weeks of bad form in a row.

Some people prefer a Darryn Lockyer type of player who is less flashy, but will always be there to go to, has a more solid all round game, and does the little things more consistently, but also has that streak of brilliance in them.

I would put Robbie Farah in the Jarryd Hayne category (to a lesser extent than Hayne, of course) and Cameron Smith in the Darryn Lockyer category.

Even playing out of position, assuming Robbie played himself into a 10 year mortgage on the Australian jumper today?

Smiffy just looks average around a bunch of good players.

When the Storm needed him to produce, he can't come up with the goods. He's slowly been shown up for the scam that he is.

After today change smiffy to farrah, good to decent and storm to tigers. although he was out of position...damn It was cringe worthy.

Playing a half was not Farahs fault you bloody pest. The moment he shifted into hooker he put one on a golden platter for Marshall. Something smiffy can only ever dream of. Move on kid.

Smith has already played halfback this year and he was the best player on the field. He also got MOTM in the World Club Challenge at halfback if I am not mistaken.

As much as I hate smith he's the best dummy half in the game

But Farah has improved at rep level this year

Been overseas on a holiday Hutty, left just before the third origin and got back last week just in time to see my mighty Panthers mount their run to avoid the spoon.

I've got a new motto for you guys.

Penrith Panther: 30% of the time they win, every time.

Despite losing Lewis our playing roster will improve dramatically next season, i'd like to think we can get that up to 40-50 percent.
