Who will be the experienced head in the front row next year if we do not sign someone like kearns ?

Nuts ? he's all we got mate and its only been 12 months since hes been playing mature , cool headed football. Never stopped going hard but used to be blasted on here for bad errors and silly penalties.

kearns is dead set BORDERLINE first grade and on very very old legs!!

wake up boys look at the opposition for goodness sake.

do you seriously expect to win a comp with some of the names bandied around?

if we dont fluke it this year it will be a long wait before we are competitive again.

Fluke? You've changed you tune.

If Kearns is still first grade standard and we get him cheap because he wants to come home, I say sign him.

I agree with Pogo, if we're going to sign Kearnsy it has to be as a forwards coach not as a player. He's too old.

I don't see how getting a guy who is still first grade standard cheap is a totally bad thing.

It's a stop gap solution but what are the other options?

Robbie kearns or Jaston Stevens for 2006, would be happy with one of them for only 1 year is good, coup[le of points need to be adressed, that having either Steven or Kearns they lead the pack, have vast experience benefical in tight matches, and most important, gives our young guys someone to look up to and aspire to reach the goals either Stevo or Kearns have achieved.

The broncs have Webcke bad knees and all, every younf bronco forward loves him there to look up to, Stevo or Kearns do that job.

WE have players like Williams & Galloway if resigned would beneift having one of the old stagers there learning more about the game, nad how the flegg players and Ball players also see the influence a great player brings

Well said Sydneysharkbrisbane.

Look at what a guy like craig smith has provided the knights with this year, well worth bringing him back from the illawarra competition, and kearns has proven to be far classier and far more valuable for his club throughout his career than smith.

If we could get him cheap, and I'm talking less then 180-200k, then yes I'd have him. He's not worth much more then that.

you will never win comps with players that are past their best.

if kearns is valuable in any way why arent melbourne keen on him, why will they release him.
dead wood dont waste the money.

what we are seeing now from a majority of posters is clutch at straws and grab second third fourth best etc.
that wont work.

unless harlen comes on as expected then we have missed the boat re a dominant prop forward.
the club obviously expects him to be the answer with the ceo describing him as a possible ten year player , i guess when you fork out 100,000 a season for a flegg player you would expect a fair return wouldnt you?

Too true, Pogo. At best, Robbie would just be keeping a spot warm. At worst, younger signings could go elsewhere. Me? I'd make bloody sure we keep Galloway. Not showing all that much at the moment, but I believe he's shown enough to indicate he will develop into a top class prop.
As for Harlen? Time will tell.

Who would of thought? I find myself agreeing with nearly all of pogo's last batch of posts.

Kearns, McKenna etc are just bandaids. Blokes used as fill ins while we wait in hope for the next silly season. Which we will also struggle in with the GC competing as well.

Everyone may as well get used to the idea that the rebuild is going to be extended and it looks like we'll have to do it with what we have.

"The plans" we hear so much of must surely be in disarray. The tomatoes are being picked off one by one and no is re planting them.

Kearns still goes well in the top grade. He's a senior player with international and finals experience. In the absence of any better options, I think he is worth a shot.
