Robbie O-told to go

:( :(
This passionate Knights bloke has been told that his time is up.
England is the only possibility and I for one will be saddened by his loss.
There wasnt a better fullback in 1997 and the G.F and many more matches since.
He is dependable and rock solid
As a clubman probably the only one who would stay and play with the kids after a club holiday camp or the sponsors BBQs
Age catches all and I for one will miss Robbie.
As a 17 year old he has seen alot come and go but he would be one of the clubs best.

Well done Robbie!
Anyone got some moments?-97 G.F first try when he made a fool of Tezza Hill to score the nights first. And then swivelling in the tackle to make it 10-10
Magic stuff

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

As you can tell, I am not taking this news well.

Robbie 'O'.

Will go down as one of the Knights all time best. Hopefully the rest of this season turns around a bit and he goes out with a bang, not a whimper.

Robbie O is a true and loyal Newcastle Knights club man. He love the town he adopted and the fans that cheer him. In these times of loyalty being akin to the highest bidder he stands out as shinging light of what dedication and loyalty really mean. I for one will salute you Robbie O when you don the proud colours of Newcastle for the last time.

Good Luck and best wishes. Ashame I don't feel the same about the a pariah (aka Johns)

I think hes way to injury prone to continue on in 2005. But that doesn't stop some teams does it.

Stick him in the real NRL :D

I thought veterans were exempt from the salary cap. That was precisely the reason the alteration to the cap rules was proposed (and introduced, or so I thought).

Clearly O'Davis doesn't want to leave (which makes him about the only senior player off contract who does want to stay -- ahem! Kennedy, ahem! Johns). But even he knows that his playing future is limited to just a season or two more -- the old legs have been struggling for a few seasons now.

It is O'Davis' dependability that I admire -- he would have made a great slips fieldsman. For a small bloke, he sure has run the ball hard at the line for many years. I cannot doubt his loyalty to the club -- I cannot doubt his abilities either.

It's a shame to see him go -- I wouldn't want to see the Knights forgoe the opportunity to sign up youngsters, but at the same time it is still disappointing to lose such a reliable player.

It's time for greater salary cap exemptions for long-serving players.

The one exemption that is there is discount for players who have played 10 years at the one club. I'm not sure how many O'Davis has played though.

I don't understand why everyone is angry with Robbie? It read to me that the Knights cut him loose?

He will be missed.

The only person displaying any anger is Kaz (Broncos supporter) and penntwisealfie (also a Broncos supporter) but he doesn't count anyway.
Robbie has been a great player for this club, even last night he was saying that he isn't sure if he'll retire or not, but he wont sign for another NRL club. His time has run it's course, the club have told him they don't have the money to retain him, and he was aware of that last year when they kept him on for one more year. Good luck to him, he has certainly given Newcastle a lot of great memories.

We QLD'ers have long memories. :D

One of the reasons we are showing 'anger' is, he was in both QLD sides that was drawn games.

If he wasn't trying to show off his running etc, we would have won the games outright.

But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, he ran like a goose, with that stupid sidestep, that everyone knows he does.

he might still stay. he has said he doesn't want to play for another nrl team. He should teach joey how to have some loyalty for the team and town.
