It's about time Craig was put in his place. I don't dislike all he offers, though he can and has crossed the line with this article today. Well said Robbie (don't agree with Foster being labelled racist though). How can one not love Twitter?

Didn't really see the problem with Fozzie's article tbh?

I don't like Foster's stance against English influence on the game and it being a negative. That is what I liked about Slater's tweet. Again, don't agree with Slater's labeling of the piece as that of Foster being a racist. The jail comment is intriguing.

Story to explode this week. Pretty much done with topic though. The media will dine out on this for the week.

Nothing wrong with it and it's all 100% correct but you can't upset the British and no surprise that Slater gets upset but imagine how mad Mark Bosnich will be reading that article.

The real problem with these British coaches is having them in the youth set up stinking up the program with hoof it up from the back tactics.

His shot at the Championship aside, I honestly don't see what was so wrong with the article? Was expecting much worse after reading Slater's tweets.

Agreed.

In essence, he (Slater) is right though. What's the point in adopting 'Dutch' or 'European' tactics at a national level if it isn't coached at a junior or domestic level?

Foster acted like a total twat reacting in the way he did though. He made Joey Barton look civilized.

Foster is right, again. Yet everyone thinks hes crazy because he disses English Football which is insane in this country because its the only country that plays football.

Perhaps with Foster is that he disses it f**king constantly that people get the shits with, especially considering the bulk of his career was in England. He prefers to just fellate Barca

Ignorant f**kwit. That style is almost extinct from the PL.

There is nothing wrong with our game domestically getting an English influence.

Maybe not BM but considering that our National squad has had a Continental European influence from now three coaches, it probably won't help local talent trying to make the next step from here.

Both of them are wankers.

THIS. QFT. 1000 times.

Foster makes it impossible to get any of his (limited) good points across because of his constant, one-sided agenda and Slater is a fence sitter who always goes into bat for his "mates". They're both c**k heads who are doing the great game of football a disservice by being on national television.

FTR, I agree with Foster questioning Magilton's appointment given his terrible CV.

His coaching record:

Ipswich: 14th, 8th, sacked in third season.
QPR: Only coached for three months. Left by mutual consent.
Shamrock Rovers: Assistant manager.

So MV scoured the world and came up with a coach who's best result in a season was finishing 8th. Surely they could have got a better coach than the assistant for Shamrock Rovers? If you are going to go on a worldwide search at least get a half decent foreigner with some pedigree.

Now, unlike Foster, I don't believe that there are a host of quality Spanish, German, Italian, French etc. coaches lining up to make their way to Oz. But surely there is SOMEONE out there who has better credentials to coach MV than Jim f**king Magilton.

The other problem with the article is that it implied that Magilton would be a kick and chase type coach. Knowing Foster's attitude/opinions on football it's fair to say that he came to that conclusion based purely on his nationality. I doubt Foster has ever seen any of Magilton's teams play.

Who knows how his teams played. For all we know, they were playing Barca-esque football but it just wasnt good enough for the Championship. Not that Fozzie could ever fathom that Barcelona football would ever fail anywhere.

Do you watch any PL games not involving Arsenal? Because Route 1 as a tactic is still very much present among many clubs. Its use is not in decline. See Liverpool on the weekend? Once Carroll came on, pretty much all we did was hoof it long for him to chase after it. And guess what? The opposition, Stoke, did likewise for Crouch. Aside from the current PL Top 5, all clubs continue to use Route 1 as a tactic.

I used to dislike Foster and his constant promotion of the continental short passing game (it doesn't matter how you win, so long as you win was my thinking), but having seen Barca play live twice in the last 12 months, he has a point. It's far more effective than the regressive English way of thinking.

Shame that Slater had to make it personal because it nullifies his argument. I think the only valid criticism of Foster from Slater though is that he's too gutless to have a crack at coaching himself.

Now, unlike Foster, I don't believe that there are a host of quality Spanish, German, Italian, French etc. coaches lining up to make their way to Oz.

Can't think of too many off the top of my head, but for a club as big as Victory, Zola would've been a decent target.
