Roberts joins the $1m club

AMOS ROBERTS has signed a four-year contract with premiership favourites Sydney Roosters worth more than $1 million.
Roberts, 23, the NRL's leading tryscorer this season with 16 will leave premiers Penrith after being discarded by St George Illawarra last year.
Penrith were keen to retain the utility back, but the length of the deal and proximity to his home at Rockdale were major factors in the decision.
It's believed he will receive in excess of $250,000 a season from the Roosters.
Club chief executive Brian Canavan said the club, which has signed St George Illawarra halfback Brett Firman, had not given Roberts any guarantee where he would play.
"We have signed Amos without any stipulation and in fact that's his preference. He's a genuine utility player and he's quite happy to be known as such," Canavan said.
Roberts' signing cleared the way for Justin Hodges to sign a three-year contract last night to return to Brisbane.
Roberts virtually completes the Roosters' playing roster for next season with only veteran Luke Ricketson yet to sign a new deal.
But the 31-year-old former Test forward has an in-principle agreement to extend his career into a 15th season at the one club.
