So instead of creating the City of St George by amalgamating Hurstville, Rockdale and Kogarah, some Councillors on very slim margins have voted to cut Rockdale lose and hand it to Botany.

Sans Souci, Ramsgate , Brighton, Arncilffe, Bexely are now part of the Eastern Suburbs.

Saints fans have voted along footy lines in the past. the head of R2K has been ahardworking and loyal alderman for the best part of a decade.

It might be time for Dragon fans to think about voting down those who have given away our heritage

Its as big a bastard act as Geoff Carr giving away our juniors in Bangor and Menai to the sharks.

Lol come on, joining up with Botany doesn't mean you become part of the easter suburbs. To be part of the Eastern suburbs, you actually have to be in the East.

When were Bangor and Menai part of the St.George region, Rexxy?
On one hand you're complaining about the St.George area being split up and some part being taken over by a different area, then you complain about losing players from an area that's part of the Sutherland Shire

For the record I grew up in both the Sutherland Shire and Kogarah Council areas, and currently live in a Rockdale Council suburb. I feel there is no way Rockdale should be joined with Botany but should be with Hurstville and Kogarah without even a second thought.

Are we suggesting here that some local politicians should reconsider their wish to let Rockdale join with Botany all just to appease the sentiment of some dragons fans?

The St George club was actually founded at Rockdale. Does this mean nothing now?

FTR, yesterday was the anniversary.

Rockdale Town Hall, Friday, February 28, 1908: A meeting was held at Rockdale Town Hall, south of Sydney. Mainly instigated by St George Rugby League pioneers, Messers W. Munn and Joe McGraw, the meeting was attended by New South Wales Rugby League officials and Rugby Union players from the local district.

At this meeting, a St George Rugby League club was definitely formed with chairman of the meeting, Alderman and Mayor W. Taylor being elected as President.

NSWRL chairman, Henry Clement Hoyle delivered a convincing address and the Rugby Union players in attendance unanimously voted in favour of joining the new Rugby League.
However, pressure from Rugby Union saw a swift change of mind with only three players actually signing up, one of those being Ted Courtney who later became a member of the first Kangaroos.
According to The Bulletin, in campaigning against the new game, there was a hasty exit to the door. But other reports in The St George Call and The Rugby League News painted a different picture, stating the meeting was well attended and that the motion to form a League club in St George was carried. Nevertheless, the end result was disappointment for the organisers and a new approach was required.

Hey Rexxy, have you seen the proposed boundaries for the federal seat of Cook? You know bloody Morrison is the sitting member
St.George suburbs absorbed by the Cronulla area.

"Cook electorate will move north across the Georges River to take in waterfront areas of St George under proposed boundary changes for the next federal election.

The seat, which is held by Federal Treasurer Scott Morrison, would become an even bigger Liberal stronghold, with the existing 16.4 per cent margin increasing by about one per cent.

Cook would gain 5034 voters from the Banks electorate, including Kyle Bay, Blakehurst and Connells Point.

It would gain a further 22,502 voters from Barton electorate, including Kogarah, Beverley Park, Kogarah Bay, Carss Park, Blakehurst, Sandringham, Sans Souci, Dolls Point, Ramsgate, Ramsgate Beach and Monterey."

I'm a Botany resident and trust me the sentiment is that any merger with Rockdale is not desired. They are trying to offer a merge with Randwick as the preferred option if there has to be a merger.

And yes, Botany is 100% South Sydney territory.

Everyone should be writing letters to their councillors and state gov reps about this. It would be a much better outcome for the club if St George had an official geographic footprint to match that of the areas cultural heritage.
