I love we're playing in the semis! But to couch mediocrity as success is the exact reason why the club will not progress.
And yes, it's possible to make the semis whilst being mediocre.

Mediocrity has to be acceptable when improving gradually. So long as you are making ground/progress in the mediocrity, it should be considered a successful season.
The 3 seasons under Price should be considered genuine mediocrity and even failure. This year though we saw a period of the season where they showed what they are capable of - with a result of the team making the 8.
I believe next years goal should be, apart from winning the premiership, to at the very least easily make the 8 and aim for the top 4. Then give the finals a good shake.
Supporters that suggest that a successful season can only be claimed if you win a premiership are setting themselves up for disappointment more often than not.
Having said that, this season isn't over and we may yet progress further.
