RATT
VH
etc

I'll get interested when I want to learn how to fluff up my hair with spray, put on makeup and wear spandex. Here's a tip, it's 2005.

The Ramones have more relevance to and influence on today's music scene than your hair bands have had for 20 years. And I'm glad about that.

Enjoy your marble wash jeans and desert boots (or b'ball high tops?).

I always get fascinated when people get so offended when their tastes are abused.

I'm not defined by my book/cd/dvd/whatever collection. How about you?

If anything I'm defined by overwhelming nihilism, wanky self-centredness, and a suicidal yet apathetic disdain for everyone and everything around me. I happen to like my shoes though.

Never understood the appeal of the Ramones. A few of you have admitted they weren't talented musically. So what the f**k do you judge the music you listen to if it's not talent? The way the musicians live their life? I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous.

Can't say I enjoy Ratt's music, but they did have talent. RJ enjoys their music, why would he care that they have big hair and wear makeup if he likes their sound?

Spot on, said what i have been trying to say.

I don't care if people don't like my tastes cause in the end i know talent is evident, Eddie Van Halen done more for Rock/Guitar then possibly anyone.

I'm not a fan of Jimi Hendrix however Eddie V & Jimi done more for the guitar then anyone....yet The Ramones are congratulated for their pathetic music and Eddie is just seen as another 80's guitarist when he invented more on the guitar then Rolling Stones darling child Jimi Hendrix.

Recognised by other fretbourd masturbators maybe but its influence is pretty much limited to the hard rock/metal world.

65 million albums sold, number 1 hits.....i think it appealed to more then just rock fans if it had number 1 hits.

Signs of a great band, rock will never be the number chosen genre yet to reach number 1 is pretty amazing.

I'm assuming that is mean't to say "don't envy ".

I don't like that style of music,I think it is sh*t.
Yankie ponce's twirling drum sticks and leaning against each other during guitar solo's.
WANKERS .

I'd rather listen to Rotsey and Moginie from the Oils play guitar or Chris Cheney from the living end.
Even Ash Naylor from Even is heaps better.

The Ramones weren't musical genius's but at least they weren't clones.

What and tism film clips don't make you cringe?? or what about their lyrics??

It was style back then, why don't you bag Queen or Bowie?? they had the hair, make-up etc?

Even though i like Moginie from Midnight Oil and Rob Hirst who i have great respect for as a drummer they aren't in the same category i'm affraid to say.

As for Clones?? explain how?? Van Halen were totally original the same as Ratt.

Van Halens first album is seen as the most influential guitar album of all time as it completely revolutionised the way the guitar sounds today, he infleuenced everyone from Vai to Satriani to Diamond Darrell ( yes he is a clone, he uses his tricks) to Malmstein to Adrian Vandenburg to Vivian Campbell etc.

65 million albums VH has sold, i'm sure The Ramones wish they could've had as much luck.

The Ramones were clones, everyone was wearing leather jackets at that time, and all had long hair lol

Huh Tism?
What the f**k have they got to do with anything?
They were taking this piss....gawd I'm hoping you knew that.
Next thing you'll say This is Spinal Tap was a legit doco.

Yes Bowie wore makeup and hairspray...the difference being he was totally original.
He sh*t all over your big hair bands before, during and well after their 2 seconds of popularity in the mid 80's.

I'll let the Oils one slide on account that I presume your talking about musical styles.
( do yourself a favour and watch the double live DVD that came out last year..there is a concert at the Captitol theatre)
No f**king faggy Yanks get close to the power that the Oils displayed.

The Ramones weren't clones of anyone.
They came before the sex pistols and all that UK punk stuff in the late 70's.
They were the first to do what they do and bands nowadays are still ripping them off and making a living out of it.

As for the leather Jackets call WTF? it was the mid 70's it was the end of the Hippy stuff the decline of prog rock and the dawning of Glam and disco.
I'm sorry but I can't remember Gloria Gaynor singing "I will survive" in a black motor cycle jacket and I don't recall
John Travolta cutting up the dance floor in "Saturday night fever " with his long flowing locks bouncing off his shoulders.

On another note get the latest MOJO magazine.
It has a cd with songs hand picked by U2 , current and past that they consider to be
hugely influentual to them.....

Guess what Ronald?

The Ramones get a run on that to.

You didn't like the film clips of hair metal so i just thought maybe look in our own backyard and you'll see the same. Maybe hair groups were taking the piss aswell?
I've never been a huge fan of Spinal tap so i won't go there.

Yes Bowie wore makeup and hairspray...the difference being he was totally original.
He sh*t all over your big hair bands before, during and well after their 2 seconds of popularity in the mid 80's.

Bowie was original, however i'm pretty sure KISS were the ones who took wearing make up and high heels to the extreme & the originators of it. What about Queen?

Van Halen, Whitesnake had more more then 2 minutes i'm affraid to say, Dave Coverdale was in Deep Purple in the mid 70's then created Whitesnake in the latter of the 70's. His best work was spread out over the 80's and he worked with some of the finest musicians the decade had, he must of had something to pull Vai, Campbell etc

Van Halen 1 released in 1978 sold over 8 million albums yet their first number one hit came in 1984 then in 86 with 5150, but offcourse it was 2 minutes of fame.

Motely Crue are as popular as ever and their tour down under has created more publicity then any band of the past 5 years that has come here.

Ratt were more an American band yet they had one triple platinum album, one double platinum and 3 platinum records over a decade in the US, 2 minutes?

The Ramones didn't even get 2 minutes......not even 2 seconds.

I'll let the Oils one slide on account that I presume your talking about musical styles.

I think i saw that concert over a mates house??...i remember seeing an Oils video a couple years back i think of the Redneck wonderland tour and it was pretty amazing. Even though Garrett can be abit of a toss sometimes for passion he's right up there...and with Hirst banging it out hard on drums they make an awesome team. Hirst is an awesome drummer.

The Ramones weren't clones of anyone.
They came before the sex pistols and all that UK punk stuff in the late 70's.
They were the first to do what they do and bands nowadays are still ripping them off and making a living out of it.

I still think the Sex pistols took it the higher level though, the Ramones may have been the originators but Sex pistols really made it what it is imo.
I'm sorry but I can't remember Gloria Gaynor singing "I will survive" in a black motor cycle jacket and I don't recall
John Travolta cutting up the dance floor in "Saturday night fever " with his long flowing locks bouncing off his shoulders.

No, however Black Sabbath wore leather jackets in the early 70's aswell as KISS.

And as for hair? Jim Morrison, Robert plant, Jimmy Page, Ozzy Osborne, Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, ELF & Dio, Ian Gilian just to name a very few, they were out before the Ramones.

On another note get the latest MOJO magazine.

I've never had much of an opinion of U2 after Lemon was released so anything they say i don't really care, they're a pop band and bono looks like someone out of queer eye for the straight guy and the edge is over-rated imo.
