According to Tony Dosen's RMC wrap on nswrl.com.au, Kingsgrove rocked up to Ringrose park with only thirteen players. At half time three players from the Roosters NYC squad got to the ground after returning from Gosford. Wenty obviously went on to post 15 tries and 80+ points.

Its been said a thousand times in the RMC threads over the years, but its absolutely farcial that this goes on in what is supposed to be the premier Sydney rugby league competition. How on earth NSWRL can justify that crap being allowed is beyond me.

A couple of relevant points:

1 Why were players that were not selected for the Roosters doing at Gosford when they were supposed to be at Wenty.
2 It made no difference when they did turn up - Wenty scored 42-0 in the 1st half and 42-4 in the 2nd.

Maybe the NSWRL wants all teams to fall to the Kingsgrove standard. Windsor and Concord Burwood are moving in that direction although we will need to wait until they meet to see if the gap is less than 30-40 points.

The half time scores at Windsor were 24-4 in RMC and 24-6 in SS. Mounties finished the job in SS but coasted in RMC. In an extraordinary result at Campbelltown, Cabra SS led 34-10 at half time.

Much improved performance by Concord Burwood. The opening blitz quickly yielded a 16-0 lead which was extended to 28-6 shortly after half time. A late revival by Blacktown made the game appear closer than it actually was. CBW had 6 players not listed in the program and 3 of these - Booth, Gregorius and Uluibai scored tries.

Wenty (RMC) and Belrose (SS) are the only undefeated teams and Asquith SS continues its embarrassing performance.

It was a poor effort by Kingsgrove after a much better showing against Asquith.
There was a player that just didn't show up and some late due to an accident on route. They arrived about 10 mins into the first half. But saying that there were quite a few players that just didn't play to the standard they should have.
There are also some apparent negatives but watching the Roosters 20s this year I am seeing kids that spent quite a bit of last year playing RMC with Kingsgrove playing some good football and improvement that comes out of playing in the RMC.

BTW anyone knows whats happend with SS at Wests and the coaching staff ?
Not out to bag people just interested to know the story

Whatever happened changed the second half. Cabramatta led 34-10 at the break and lost 42-40.

I think the question relates to what has happened to George Kulen. He was coach of Kingsgrove but managed to land a job coaching a better side - Wests SS, but after a few rounds it appears that Wests development manager, Con Spanos has taken over as coach.

SS ladder

10 Belrose
8 Mounties (+103), East Campbelltown (+92), Peninsula Seagulls (+92), St Marys (+85)
6 Guildford (+46), Wests (+2), Hills (-36)
4 Wenty
3 Auburn
2 Cabramatta
1 Windsor
0 Blacktown (-50), Asquith (-212)

The top 4 will dominate this comp. Guildford and Wests are full of NYC guys and they will win half of their games without threatening the top 4 while Auburn, also with plenty of NYC guys is uncompetitive.

That is the case, I like George he is a good fellow. I was hoping that he would do well at Wests, but something has happened and I don't know what

Western Suburbs ran in 10 tries in an outstanding display to hammer Cabramatta 56-16.

Wests were first on the board, a midfield bomb spilt by Cabramatta allowing for an extra set which saw Inno Inosesio touch down out wide with the second try coming in the same position as Jerome Mose broke clear down the wing before putting Blake Cavallaro over for a 10-0 lead inside six minutes.
Wests were totally dominating the opening stages of the match and this resulted in their third try after 18 minutes, a kick in behind the line seeing Tom Morrison, in his first game of the season, get to the ball ahead of Daniel Abou-Sleiman. Cabramatta’s defence was solid, but then turned to water as David Harris put Wests up by 22 after as many minutes after going through a hole the size of Sydney Heads.
Cabramatta finally came alive seven minutes before halftime, a break from Daniel Abou-Sleiman through an almost non-existent hole allowed him to find Brendan Haraki, who then kicked back after drawing Shannon Gallant for Abou-Sleiman to get the try. Wests responded though, Dayne Craig burrowing for a simple try from dummy half after Luke Williams had tried the same play the ruck before, Shannon Gallant converting for a halftime lead of 28-6 to the home side.
Wests began the second half where they left off in the first, Dayne Craig kicking wide after a Brendan Waters offload to find Tala Mapesone unmarked before Craig got his second after a short side raid that yielded results on the left fringe. Cabramatta opened their second half account just before the hour as Kenny Niko went over on the left after Wests’ scrambling defence failed to recover in time after a quick tap penalty.
Cabramatta’s defence started to look shaky and David Harris took fulla dvantage with 15 minutes remaining, bolting through a gap and swerving around Daniel Abou-Sleiman for his second try before Tarek El Masri responded for the visitors from dummy half after Cabramatta regathered possession from the restart.
Dayne Craig’s third try of the day, eight minutes from time, came courtesy of a David Harris intercept, the two forwards combining on the 65 metre charge before lock forward Matt Eisenhuth helped himself to a tiny Blake Cavallaro grubber for his first of the year to cap of a 40 pint hammering of the Two Blues.
WESTERN SUBURBS 56 (Dayne Craig 3, David Harris 2, Inno Inosesio, Blake Cavallaro, Tom Morrison, Tala Mapesone, Matt Eisenhuth tries; Shannon Gallant 8 from 10) defeated CABRAMATTA 16 (Daniel Abou-Sleiman, Kenny Niko, Tarek El Masri tries; Jake Jackson 2 from 3)
SYDNEY SHIELD
Defence was almost banned at Campbelltown as the Magpies snuck home 42-40 against Cabramatta. Both sides coughed up some early ball, but the visitors were the first to hold on to it long enough to create an opportunity as Brett Castles took advantage of some poor defence to touch down out wide after stepping back inside the converging cover.

Cabra were in again three minutes later as a perfectly weighted kick found George Vujanovic steaming through to mark ahead of the home side before the visitors got their second three minutes later, a right hand break allowing for another kick, the bounce favouring Jake Webb to blow the score out to 16-0.
Wests nabbed their first try after 22 minutes, a nice offload by Jai Doolan sending Roman Ioelu over adjacent to the uprights.

Cabramatta, however, returned fire almost immediately as Ibudoc Solomona cut through some very poor Magpie defence to touch down out wide. Wests returned serve through Thomas Capper, whose touchdown out wide raised a few suspicions of a forward pass from Noa Tuitavuki despite being allowed to go by Darian Furner. Furner was the focus of more wrath, this time from the home side as Jarrod Robson managed to ground the ball despite the attention of four Magpie defenders. Ibudoc Solimona then grabbed his second, Cabra going to halftime ahead 34-10.
Wests kicked off the second half in style, with Jai Doolan dummying his way through the Cabra defence for Wests’ third of the day before Doolan turned provider, Roman Ioelu getting his second after dashing 60 metres.
Wests were putting on a show, George Nasilai touching down after a crossfield kick from Pio Sofa went awry, but Cabramatta found a way to halt the home side’s momentum as Michael Dent kept the defence at bay with a series of dummies to put Cabra’s lead back out to 16.

The Magpies kept coming though, a break from Jai Doolan setting up a quick play the ball, Roman Ioelu finding Thomas Capper with the cut out ball for a try in the corner. Wests struck quickly again, Misieli Vaikelli going over on the right before Jai Doolan backed up a midfield break to touch down out wide, Roman Ioelu’s conversion attempt failing to level the scores.
Wests capped a dramatic game two minutes from the end, a long ball from Jai Doolan finding Thomas Capper, who snuck home ahead of the cover defence to, amazingly, get the Magpies home.
WESTERN SUBURBS 42 (Thomas Capper 3, Roman Ioelu 2, Jai Doolan 2, George Nasilai, Misieli Vaikelli tries; Noa Tuitavuki 2 from 2, Jai Doolan 0 from 1, Roman Ioelu 1 from 6) defeated CABRAMATTA 40 (Ibudoc Solimona 2, Brett Castles, George Vujanovic, Jake Webb, Jarrod Robson, Michael Dent tries; Makaera Ormsby 6 from 7)

I fail to see how the roosters allow this. Guys not even making the bench for NYC would be low in confidence to begin with and they send them to a team who is going to be slaughtered.

I have been involved with some.A Grade and 19s sides in the past that have had 20s players come back and no one from the NRL club even comes to watch them play. Not sure how their meant to impress anyone and make the 17

It can be hard for the 20s players, but it does toughen them up. Some understand and I have seen a few use it to prove themselves and kick on.
The Roosters actually take an interest with the 20s coach attending games as well as a Roosters representative attends all games and puts together a comprehensive report on the NYC players.

Even if they do have coaching staff there, the players aren't going to perform when they're in a team getting belted by 60 points. You can't. Backrowers can't run good lines off a half if they have no field position to attack. Props can't dominate in tackles and win the ruck if the guys next to them aren't cut out for tackling full grown men. Wingers can't show their defensive aptitude if they're faced with 3 on 1 situations, nor can they show their ability to finish off movements for a try if there are no movements to begin with.

As for the 'toughen them up' aspect, they'd be better off running around in the A Grade comp for the Coogee Wombats. They'd be running at a few 100kg+ blokes and actually be able to compete. I'm not at all bagging the players here, because they're the victims in all this (well, one of them anyway). They're development is put on hold for a year while they get hammered.

I was told a story by a player in the RMC Rep team last year that faced the "NRL Rookie" contestants. That RMC rep side was filled with non-Roosters Kingsgrove players because it was a week out from finals and none of the clubs wanted their players to risk getting injured. He said the blokes would be competitive at best in a local reggies competition. Physically, skill wise and in terms of simply understanding the basics of the game, they're not even close to open-age footballers, let alone RMCup standard.

The team that played the NRL rookies was 1/2 the RMC rep side and the rest was Kingsgrove RMC and A grade players.

I am sure sure whether its RMC or SS they should be in. But it is interesting the 20s players from Souths that are sent down to the A grade comp go no where. The Roosters players that get sent to RMC for Kingsgrove, while the scores are not good it sorts out the ones that will kick on and those that won't.
Its not the case that their development is on hold for that year. There are several playing week in week out in the Roosters 20s this year that are much better players than they would be had they not played for Kingsgrove last year.

On the surface it doesn't look good, but in the bigger picture there are many positives that most people don't see.

Asquith needs to put those excess Souths NYC guys into their Sydney Shield team quick. They have been losing by 60. A few of these guys could make the scores more respectable. Certainly there have been Souths NYC guys playing for Asquith SS in recent years. I don't know why it has stopped.

I know a few years ago all the excess Norths NSW Cup players were sent to the Souths A grade but once Asquith entered RMC they went there and then Concord Burwood linked up with Norths and now also Hills District.

Kingsgrove can foster the development of Roosters 20's players and such in the Sydney Shield competition. It serves no purpose at all to have them belted each week under the false pretense that they'll be 'better for it.' It kills your moral even if you have the very best of intentions to make a difference. It's embarrassing and they are nothing more than a glorified bye, an opposed training session if you will. The legitimacy of the competition suffers as a result. This same team got done by 100 points two years back. 100 points. Replace them with The Entrance and have the NSWRL foot the bill for away travel to entice them to stay in the league. Possibly bring in a Sutherland or Illawarra rep style team to round it out at 14 teams.

The RMC has the potential to be a fantastic sub-professional football league if given the correct treatment. Eliminating Kingsgrove, reducing the finals to a 5-team playoff system, and spreading it from the 'metro' bias are the ways forward.

People who don't know the ins and outs of these comps would probably not believe you if you told them that players in an NRL clubs system are being sent to play in a team that sometimes doesn't even have enough players.
