So who's in the running? I'll try and do one for every team.

Brisbane Broncos: Mitchell Frei
Bulldogs: Dale Finucane
Raiders: Mark Ioane
Cowboys: Moses Pangai
Titans: Aiden Sezer
Manly: Nick Skinner?
Storm: Mahe Fonua
Knights: Kyle O'Donnell
Eels: Ken Sio
Penrith: Ryan Simpkins
Sharks: Tyrone Peachey
Souths: Adam Reynolds
Dragons: Nathan Green
Roosters: Tautau Moga
Warriors: Konrad Hurrell
Tigers: James Tedesco

Forgive me if your club has a better talent, I just had a quick look and picked what I thought would be the go. I think Reynolds being a halfback has a distinct advantage. But a guy like Moga, Hurrell or Tedesco could shape up too.

what do you deem a rookie. Is it someone who is yet to play first grade or someone with just a handfull of games

Whatever the league standard is. For Penrith i agree with ab, Blake Austin and Harry Seijka are bigger chances. Austin i think will have a good year, the kid can play.

I think you have to have played less than 5 games to qualify for rookie of the year status. So a guy like Tonga Likiliki (great name) is classed as a rookie despite playing 2 games last year.

Jack Wighton has been killing it in pre-season for us, and we're pretty thin out wide so he's a chance for a debut this season. Massive wraps on him.

Obviously for Souths it's likely to be Adam Reynolds. George Burgess could be a smokey, however.

Brendon Gibb could be a smokie for the Broncos, he's been recalled for the 2nd trial game against the tits...

Hurrell looks the goods. Korbin Sims youngest brother of Ashton & Tariq Dont know if he will get a start 2012 but has more talent than his bros.

I watched Korbin a lot in the NSW Cup last year, not convinced he's better than Tariq. That's a massive call.

Tyson Frizzel or Stewart Mills (If hes still eligible) are the favourites for the Sharks. If Mills gets a run in the centres like he should, he may take out the award if eligible.

Peachey won't play much first grade if at all this year. Could be a good bet for 2013 though.
