And, for that matter, idot players that claim "we didn't know" and "it's none of my business what so and so is paid" should grow up too. Do they really think we believe they are that stupid?? Hang, maybe I do.

Look around the team talk guys - if you are a rep player earning a lot of money, chances are your team-mates who are rep players too are also earning lots of money. Then do some quick addition, or if you're not capable, we know you can afford a calculator!!!

This is something that really irks me.

The majority of sharks fans on these forums are so bloody cockie.

Yet the have no reason to be.

Lets look at their club
37 years and won sweet FA
They ban their coach from attending training or communicating with players.
Their former chairman uses sissors to destroy an opposition fans jersey inside the clubs resturant.
They are almost broke

Now compare that to the roosters
after a slump in the 80s and early 90s the have been up there every season. They won the comp in 2002 because they had the best LEGAL SIDE. That bulldogs side in 2002 was ILLEGAL.
Are on of the richest clubs in the comp.

If i were a roosters fan i would take this jibes as a compliment because the sharks are so jealous of the roosters success and their clubs lack of success that they are trying to belittle the roosters achievements.

Had the Doggs won last year, that would've been the claytons premiership, not the Roosters. You're talking about a team that was put together illegally and under normal circumstances, those players would never have been playing as a team.

You are an idiot and showing exactly how ugly a bad sport can be. Pull your head in dickhead.

God help us, a Bronco complaining about an unfair playing field!!  Do you really think your side is under the cap. If so, you shouldn't be calling others dickhead.

Glad to see that you all feel so strongly about it though. If we have lot's of people defending the Roosters from all over the place it must mean the game is healthier than ever.

You are a dickhead mate. Morons like you like to throw around the cheating tag or salary cap rorters without any proof. The Broncos have never hidden the fact that they have gone over the cap. 78K over 2 years is such a drama isn't it?

The game is healthy from where I stand. This years comp has been the best I've seen in years. You cynical prick. If you don't like the comp, go follow soccer or womens hockey. Sounds like they are more your speed. Or perhaps synchronised swimming. I bet you love those under water shots.

Moronic???

Ummm - let's see - Canberra were well over the salary cap - in 1991 Brent Todd and Glenn Lazarus among other "lesser lights" had to move so they could get under it. Just dealing with facts... I'd suggest that viewing events through rose-coloured glasses is moronic!!!

Canterbury cheated, and were rightly deducted points. Anyone who trhinks the Roosters did not deserve their premiership is "moronic"

Canberra in the early 90's cheated the salary cap too - but nothing was done except forcing them to get under it once the breach was discovered. That's cheating too - and they won a premiership while doing it (Penrith should've beaten them in 1990 too, and so should Balmain in 89!).

There are rules, they should be followed. Sorry, I have no sympathy for those that cheat.

We did not blatantly cheat the cap and try to hide it like the Bulldogs did. Do some research about the facts of what went down.

I've never bought into the claytons premiership crap. Regardless of the Bulldogs not being caught for having an illegal side I think they would've been lucky to make the Grand Final let alone win the competition. No longer are they the finals specialists, they have very little finals experience and it was shown this year in their dismal showing come the business end of the season.
The Roosters on the other hand have been there every year since 1995 and had been to the Grand Final in 2000, they certainly didn't lack experience and would've rolled the Bulldogs had the match up hapened.

Gee, your name suggests you might have a small bias here....let's recap - YES, Canberra DID BLATANTLY CHEAT THE SALARY CAP,

and YES, they DID TRY TO KEEP IT QUIET while they went about winning premierships (the trut came out much later) with a side that was not possible to assemble with such cheating.

Perhaps some objective rational thought is in order on your behalf.... you're boring me

Ive probably been through the facts of what occured 10 different times on the forums, so I really don't wanna go into it again and again. And I'm boring you? I guess the truth is boring to someone like you. You support Souths don't you? Good luck for the rest of your footballing existance, you'll need it.

lol - "facts" yeah yeah - which part are you saying didn't happen?

1. they didn't ignore the cap and keep players that they shouldn't have?
2. Those players weren't critical in the team's performance?
2. Lazarus, Todd and many up and comers left?

You're not too clear in your point.

No, not a Souths fan, a Penrith one, hence I remember the issues quite well.

But, no, I don't think the Canberra situation was as bad as the Bulldogs one. Partly because people like Anasta and Mason aren't worth the money they've been paid - that Bulldogs team should just about fit under the cap, in my opinion.

And no, I don't think how the cap works is perfect - Canberra developed a few of those players (obviously not Belcher, Meninga and Todd), but most of the others, and should have been allowed, somehow, to keep them. Other teams, as we've discussed elsewhere (Newcastle, Parramatta) have been hurt by this. Brisbane seem to manage best, simply by cutting loose dead wood and keeping what they want at less than their market value.

This is what occured..... We won the title in 89 fair and square. BUT many players had clauses put into their contracts that if they made rep sides..they would recieve bonuses. Well as it turned out we had 9 odd reps in 1990..so we went over the cap, thanks to our managements stupidity in including these clauses. The NSWRL were notified of the hole we dug ourselves...we did not try and hide it and cheat a la the Dogs. We then lost a fair few players (much more than Canterbury has)...and had a shithouse 1992. We paid our dues, and came back stronger than ever (which is probably what pissed a lot of people off). I aplogize for originally thinking you were a Souths fan. I must of mistaken you for someoene else.

No need to get personal mate. You call me a dickhead and a cynical prick and you don't even know me. I just have a little jibe at the Roosters, who by the way were over the cap in 2002 also, and you get all upset and start calling me names. Grow up.

By the way Souths are he most successful side ever, so there is plenty to be jealous about with them.

Oh gee, another idiot trying to bad mouth the Roosters grand final win last year. Surprise surprise, he waits until they lose the GF the following year.

The Bulldogs cheated. It's that simple. They had acquired personnel that was impossible to bring together under the cap, the very cap that every other team were doing their best to stay under. So it is as obvious as the nose on Sterlo's face that they achieved an unfair advantage through the use of illegal tactics. As such, the Roosters were the best team of 2002 who had got their team together legally (and I won't go into the argument against that).

Oh, and I'm a Broncos supporter so I am unbiased in this. In fact, if anything I am biased towards the doggies as they are my favourite Sydney team and the Roosters one of my most disliked.

What do you mean, apart from the Craig Wing payments?

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/rugby/league/news/2003/01/29/nrl_aus/

The Roosters were fined for breaches of undisclosed payments to Craig Wing.

$150,000 over 2 years 2001 and 2002

Yes DJ1 but if you knew the story it was because of something to do with souths juniors. It was more of a mistake. Yet our team was still formed LEGALLY

You are 100% correct McSharkie it's your opinion and you are entitled to it, just as I am entitled to mine.

IMO the Sharks will NEVER again appear in a Grand Final let alone win one.

Sharkies did appear in one GF recently. .... oh thats right it was the one that didn't count.

Jealous because out of the 4 teams who made the GF that year, your team just couldn't cut it?
