Do the Roosters abide by the same salary cap limit as the other 14 NRL TEAMS??

Ahh, make that 13, I forgot about the cheating Dogs.

Fittler and Ricketson will most likely not be there next season. Thats gotta free up $600,000+ for the Roosters.

Fair enough, but then add:

* Minichiello
* Hodges
* Finch
* Cayless
* Morley
* Wing
* Flannery
* Crocker
* Fitzgibbom

and possibly a few others I've forgotten and it becomes somewhat fishy.

I've heard that the Roosters offered Lote a deal that was only $50K shorft of what the ARU hace re-signed him for. IE, they out a deal on the table worth $600K a season.

The real issue is not whether or not they are under cap, because no-one has any proof!!
The issue has to be that the Salary Cap is simply not working!!!! :evil:

The Salary Cap is meant to spread wealth and just looking at the amount of rep players teams like Dragons. Bronco's and Roosters have on comparison to teams like the Tigers, Manly and yours Truly it is simply shpwing everyone that the Cap is "OUT OF ORDER"

We need a more complicated, more felxible and at the same time more rigid cap structure - similar to the American Basketball system!

My idea!

When a team/ player sign a contract they are bound to it, and the player is bound to the club.
If the cap was 3mill, it is called a 'soft-cap' because teams can exceed it in rare circumstances - I would see this as including 2 things: the ability to pay your local juniors at higher rates (promoting the development of the game), and a nominal amount - say 100K for teams to use to fill out their rosters
All teams would have to have a minimum of 12 players on their books, and a maximum of 30 - treat the lower grades as they currently are.
All player contracts would have to be copied and one copy stored at league HQ - that'd stop the rorts somewhat.

Bring the draft.

It works in the AFL

And to avoid the legal challenge, make it part of the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement that the players are trying to negotiate with the NRL.

No rugby league club would pay $600 000 for anyone let alone a winger. Not even the Roosters. Your information is false.
