I know next to nothing about Brett Firman. Firstly, why did St George want to get rid of him and is he a good player?

Brett Firman a Rooster

Author: Sydney Roosters
Thursday, 17 June 2004

The Sydney Roosters today announced the signing of St George Illawarra half back Brett Firman for three years from the 2005 season.

Firman will strengthen the halves at the Roosters following the retirement of Brad Fittler at the end of the season.

Whilst currently out injured with a broken leg, Brett is back in full training and expected to make a return to football this season.

St George Illawarra gave Firman approval to negotiate prior to the 30th June deadline.

They released him because Head is killing it at present and while Firman is a potential star, he has played about 20 games in three years. He was with us at the sharks before the Dragqueens and spent nearly his whole time with us sitting on the sidelines with busted shoulders.

Good player but a tad risky.

So much for the salary cap

It's great hey, especially since St. George will be paying his contract over the next two years. This is what happens when you get rid of a player. Honestly, do you know anything about Rugby League?

I don't think this is (entirely) true. I think Saints only have to make up any short-fall in between what he was on & what the new club pays, hence why Saints are paying off some of Amos Roberts' Panfers deal & Easts help pay a bit of Todd Payten's.

I doubt that Brett would be on less than what he was on at Saints.

Good luck to Brett, he's a nice guy & will go well under Stuart, a halfback's halfback. I have doubts about his injury history, though.

Cheers,
Ben S.

Ben, to be honest, I don't think any of us are too certain. It would be nice if St. George and the Roosters let us all know what was going on. Do you know how much he is on with St. George? Also, I've read that he is off contract and I've also read that he is contracted for the next two years, so now I'm unsure about that as well.

The truth is I left a photo of Private Steer's head in Nathan Brown's bed. We got Firman for free.

this gets funnier and funnier - are we paying green still?? Are Canberra still paying Payten - does god have sex - if not how come we got his son on earth??

Fair dinkum the NRL needs to look at some of their rules - because I think the auditors have now got grey hair!!!
