Roosters whinging about salary cap

Some Roosters fans on here are complaining about the players they are or might be losing next year. A quick run-down perhaps then?

- Brad Fittler - retiring at the end of the season. Not being lost to another club. Meanwhile your club tries its hand at signing frickin Darren Lockyer.
- Shannon Hegarty - played most of this season's matches (after injury) in premier league. If you want him so badly put him in first grade.
- Justin Hodges - released to Brisbane on compassionate grounds.
- Cusack/Catic - like the Roosters are making big contract offers to these benchies. I don't see them crying when the spare cash is being offered at young guns like Frank Pritchard.

"Oh no we are losing so many of our players to the cap! How about we sign rookie of the year Brett Firman."

Perhaps the Roosters should be allowed to sign anyone they want whilst keeping all their old players. Then they can play them in reserve grade and keep them well away from other clubs.

Pull your goddamn heads in you petty whinging elitist silvertails. Just because you have 2 NSW coaches, an ex top referee and a media commentator on your books doesn't mean you run the comp.

Don't start up another crap rooster-bashing thread. What are you trying to prove.
It's getting very boring and tedious.

Once again a moron with no substance whatsoever. Show me the proof that the Roosters were after Lockyer, Pritchard or any of the countless other superstars that the Roosters were supposedly going to buy. So far we have signed 1 player. We will be without Fittler, Cusack and Hodges next year. C'mon Knobhead, show me some evidence to back up your claims......I won't hold my breath waiting for your proof!

I agree Johns Magic. I think its old, but you know what, its the flavour of the week/month/year.

I used to love Manly bashing, Bronco bashing, Bulldog bashing, so I guess its my turn to take Rooster bashing. I know I was only jealous of the success those other teams had, so I can understand how some supporters are feeling.

Its the baseless and truly stupid threads started by this jerk that just annoy me. What a tosser. I honestly feel sorry for this person and the site he/she has to face when he looks in the mirror each morning. A sad lonely dejected, rejected waste of space that should just do us all a favour....

Hegarty was injured. Came back for one game. Got injured again. Has played three PL games. Back in 1st grade now. If a player misses the entire off-season training through injury, you need to run him back into match fitness.

Don't let facts get in the way of your whinge.

In response:

1. this thread was in response to a bunch of Roosters posters whinging about persecution over salary cap - ie that ppl were dissing them for no reason and that the cap was unfair to their side. I am pointing out how and why certain players are leaving - hardly because of salary caps.

2. Muffdaddy you don't know me you can shut the hell up.

3. Hegarty was injured, I acknowledged that. He is only in this week's team because Hodges is in premier league and Minichiello in state of origin.

4. labinator check your facts buddy. In fact last year there was no OFFICIAL rookie of the year due to the Dally Ms being cancelled. Slater was nominated just like Firman was.

Good on all the attackers for responding with personal taunts instead of argument or logic.

Tell me too how many of you ARE NOT defensive Roosters supporters???

Jirskyr, I was not trying to attack you. First and foremost, I am not a Roosters fan. Secondly, I do not like the Roosters.

But the fact is, everyone is sick of all the Rooster-Bashing. It gets brought up all the time, and the same points are always argued. It is not like nobody has previously pointed out what you wrote. The amount of Rooster-bashing is wrecking the forums, because it is getting very boring. The same things are being said over and over again. The arguments often have no substance and are just rumours concocted by people jealous of the Roosters. Who are you to say that the Roosters have been chasing Pritchard or Lockyer? They are all just rumours.

This is in no way an attack on you, I am just informing you why the reaction was so strong against you, and why you should not do it again.

P.S: Billy Slater was named 2003 Rookie of the Year on the Footy show Awards.

By the way, why is it that one second Firman was rookie of the year....

Yet the next second there was no rookie of the year?

Don't twist the facts to suit your argument.

Yeah mate I was more talking about Cogburn and Muffdaddy.

OK fair is fair. I don't have documented proof about the attempted signings of Lockyer or Pritchard. Only strong rumours. Regardless my point was how the Roosters supporters are complaining about who they are losing, and I am pointing out why its ridiculous.

Footy Show awards aren't official NRL awards.

But thanks tho for the advice about not doing it again. I can and will post as many topics about the Roosters (or whomever) as I choose. This is my first post about the Roosters so if you are bored about it then just don't read or post. Simple.

Anyway what is the NRL if you can't have a go at opposition teams?

Because being cancelled, Firman was as close to ROTY as anyone else. I never twisted facts, just defended my choice of words against some twit who calls me a dipstick and asserts that Billy Slater was "in fact" ROTY, when he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Fair enough mate.

Congrats on reaching the 100 post mark.

We have only signed 1 player..........but rumoured to have been linked to 40.
Its the usual top club syndrome...............lets wait and see what happens within the next day or so , before anyone casts aspersions on the Roosters salary cap.

The Roosters aren't the only club to whinge about the salary cap. Almost every club has lost some of their best players due to the cap, its the way it goes at the moment. In my opinion, the NRL needs to bring something in to reward loyalty. There aren't too may 1 club men left in the game.
