greatest player in todays game in todays edition of the Daily Telegraph 1/3/2010. I rate the kid and think he is a fantastic player but is everyone getting way ahead of themselves here. The way things are going he will be getting a $500K contract to go with Hayne:)

One thing is for sure, he is better then Albert Kelly. Kelly is copping a pizzling from Sharks fans.

Avenger, Kelly played pretty well for the Sharks on the weekend..... i reckon its probably a little premature of sharks fans. Hes quick, and bulked up a little.

This should be the top 5 in no particular order.

Hayne, Thurston, Lockyer, Cameron Smith and Inglis.

Are you sure ?

I came away from the trial thinking what have they been working on in the off season?

Seriously it was terrible.

Albert Kelly is probably a season or two from being a First Grader.
He has very little instincts for playing in the halves and needs to work on his defence. His passing is very sloppy and care free I might add. Fullback would be the only position I would give him a go at if Stapleton gets injured.

Pom and cov were terrible again.
Covell has got even slower and Pom has got nothing.
He couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag.

Tautai and Gordon looked good out wide and if Ricky is fair dinkum they should get a crack at first grade sooner rather than later.

Ferguson was our main spark out wide and made one long break but failed to set up his support properly for a certain try. He was trying to go himself and when he realised he couldn't he pushed out a difficult ball for his support to catch and he duly fumbled it. He may have to defend on the wing though if he plays centre as his defence is a big worry.

Actually a lack of team work in everything we did was very noticeable. Out of the four sides out there that night we were the less cohesive and had the worst support play.

Ruck defence was woeful and Farah had a field day.

Handling was school boy like.

Yes it doesn't make for good reading but I'm telling as it is.

Very little positives.

Areas of Sharks supporters in the stands were like they were attending a funeral.

This Tigers side was minus Marshall, Tuiaki and Tuquiri.

For those who say it is only a trial well good luck to you.

But I can tell you the body language wasn't good amonst the players.
Their not stupid they know we are going to struggle with the squad we've got let alone when injuries come around.

It's up to you Ricky.

Pick the same team as last year and get the same results as last year or punt on some new blood to freshen things up and give us some optimism of change.

but he has played more "tests" and the like than some other highly ranked players who mainly only have NRL experience.

He still hasn't played NRL. Many of those 'tests' would have been less challenging than an NRL trial match. Sorry, but all this fellating of him before he's had a go here is just over the top. Once he's played here a bit then fine, but until then, no.

Ellis didnt make it, Burgess might be in the top 25.

Now we're talking ridiculous. He hasn't even made his NRL debut yet ffs.

but he has played more "tests" and the like than some other highly ranked players who mainly only have NRL experience.

Burgess being selected without Ellis getting a look in is ridiculous in itself. If Burgess has half the season that Ellis did last year he'll have done well....

i love how rothfield writes articles/blogs like they are prophesy or some kind of official commentary.

i have only read his mundine doesn't make the best ever indigenous team, who will miss out on the 8 and this crap and all i can think is what a goose. while everyone is entitled to their opinion the way he writes is pathetic. it's like he brings down the telegraph aimed reading level (of age 12) to 5 or 6.

he is very hard to take seriously.

the week to week action of the NRL will test Burgess. he'll need to adapt to playing a faster style. He was great in the all star game but i barely cited him in the charity shield over the weekend.
