The side is shaping up to look something like this: Hornby, Best, Kelly, Cooper, Simmonds, long-odds-maybe Barrett, Head, Timmins, Young, Thompson, Poore, Gorrell, Bailey with a bench of: Previously Unheard Of Reserve Grade Utility, Sims, Norrie, Manu. If Barrett plays we lose 16-34. If he can't be arsed at least another two of the high profile players will drop out and any sort of horror is possible. 10-48, maybe.

You have about as much chance of beating the dogs as we do penrith ...

You're all pretty damn quiet in here, 2 trial losses and you go into your shells !

dragons 32, dogs 14.....no chance at all. the dragons have a hell of a lot of work to do to even compare to the dogs.

Bollocks to us being no chance, I love nothing more than a Saints team being under pressure and written off by the media and everyone else. Whether it be our team of reserve graders that punished the Warriors a couple of seasons ago or the same again against Parra last year, we do well under these circumstances.

Bring it on I say. Dragons 28 - Dogs - 20.

I'm seriously concerned. From reports last weekend, the way the Dogs carved up in the second half against a Souths team we were well and truly beaten by a week earlier, it sends a chilling message, it's hard to see us holding much a of a candle to the Dogs in the first round considering early pre season form.

We've got a lot of improvement to do if we are to be any hope of a winning start to the comp.

If we go out with a good attitude, we could make it a tough game, if we go out with the attitude as we did against Souths, we could get a pasting against the Dogs.

Given the form of the two sides though, there seems to be light years.

Still no better yardstick than starting with the premiers in round 1. I just fear that a heavy defeat though could spark more rumours about an unhappy team and stall our season before it gets going, with the focus on whats happening at the club, rather than the premiership.

I'm not filled with confidence

As much as I hate to say it I don't like our chances. Our preparation hasn't been the best, we have alot of first grade players who haven't played in any trials, Michael Ennis hasn't even played any gametime with the team let alone trials, we usually start the season poorly and have lost our fair share of Rd1 games plus our record against the Dogs who are now the premiers is not crash hot either. All of this adds up to a loss IMO. As long as we are competitive I don't expect us to put it together for a few rounds. I don't necessarily like it but this is what I think will happen.

I think Ennis will start RD on the bench with Gorrell in the team just due to Ennis lack of Fitness/game time.

I dont think he will be in first grade unless there is no other option...He isnt a bad player... but I dont think he is very favoured.

I wouldnt take too much into account on the souths game. It wasn't a great team that we fielded that night. I was disappointed with the effort made by most that night, some players had their chance in the top grade to impress and they just didnt measure up.
