Big Mick or anyone whose been keeping an eye on trial form. How has Pee Wee Moke gone in the trials?? Has he been playing?

No hasn't played in the trials due to injury but if you browse on PI some of our fans seem to think he has done enough to warrant automatic selection in our 17 and some have even expressed the view he should be our starting 5/8 despite never having played the position.

Showed some ability in a season in the Roosters flegg side a couple of years back and had some good press in an article in the print media so obviously that if sufficient to warrant his selection in our starting 17.

I saw the selection of PeeWee Moke as our starting 5/8 by some people and had to laugh. In all honesty I can see Moke filling a role similar to that Whatuira was filling in the later stages of his stint at penrith, bench utility.

You and I along with 100% of Panthers supporters hope Pee Wee Moke turns into another Amos Roberts. No doubt.

However, at this stage it is absolutely ridiculous to suggest he is deserving of the 5/8 position in our top 17 or any other position for that matter.

There may be those who would argue neither has Brett Firman done anything to deserve the starting 5/8 but at least he has the runs on the board and but for two serious knee reconstructions has performed at the highest level.

Peter Wallace has his supporers but I doubt few if any have ever actually watched him in PL. I have. He has potential. Does he have the tools to be one of the top 5/8's or succeed in the NRL, the answer is no he doesn't. (IMO)

I would love Peter Wallace to succeed, I would love him to become the next Steve Carter, but IMO he simply doesn't have the ability and I base that on having watched him on many, many occasions in Premier League.

Cant imagine where people would get that idea, he hasnt been a walk up start in FG at 2 previous clubs so with no trial form its a verrrrrry long bow to assume a FG start. I think as anybody would who has seen him play in the last few years, that Penrith has bought him as a cheap 'project' based on his potential similar to Galavuo, Whatuira etc when they came to Penrith, hoping that the club may be able to draw out of him what other clubs have been unable to do. Its a bit hard to single out a position for him though I suspect that as CagedP said that he may be best suited to being a utility type player who can come on and fill a number of positions

Let me say this.

The more optimistic supporters on the back on one article in the print media have jumped on the bandwagon and made assumptions he is going to be the next superstar.

We should not be so bold.

Having said that Kilkenny's reliable sources tell me Pee Wee Moke is finally going to fulfil his undoubted potential.

He was a junior superstar, was going to be the nezt big thing, but for whatever reason failed to deliver.

He has done everthing right in the off season, he has trained the house down, his attitude is 100% and he has the ability.

When the time comes the rest is up to Pee Wee Moke. He will get his shot this season. He will have one season to reinvent himself as a genuine top liner in the NRL. Some inside the club believe he will prove himself another Amos Roberts, albeit in a different position. Let's hope so. We could certainly do with another Amos Roberts, and if that's the way he turns out then lets hope we are able to retain him!
