My interpretation on the 2 centres selected is that we have weaknesses in Nabuli on the left and Marshall on the right. Nabuli might get better with time in first grade. Marshall needs good defenders on both sides of him. He has Frizell indide him already, but I don't think Aitken is solid enough yet, he may well in the future, but I think right now Farrell is probably the right choice. And secondly, until the forwards start dominating, the defence must be a priorty.

I reckon you have got it right ,it will be interesting to see how much of Storms attack Bellamy runs at the right.

your logic makes sense, however i dont think Farrell is strong enough defensively to make it work....

Farrell is not our right side solution. Peter Matta Utia is a solid player with good defensive skills while at thee same time being very robust in attack. On the left side Aitken is our future and in my opinion has the defensive and attacking skills to do the job. Nabuli strikes me as being a winner and he will get better each game as his confidence grows.

Lol Mata'utia has proven to be much more comfortable on the left and Aitken specialises on the right. other than that though...

I haven't seen Peter M be terrible in defense or anything so I think he could have got a run but I agree with this, defense is a priority at the moment especially v the storm.

furthermore, i'm trusting this coach at the start of the season because he hasn't given me much to complain about so far (most of the off field dramas aren't his doing, ie. Merrin, Morris leaving)

The more that I look at what Souths are doing to opposition teams and the way that we fared against them in the CS, the more confident that I feel that we have a team that is capable of competing with teams in the middle of the comp.

Souths were without Greg Inglis, Adam Reynolds, George Burgess, Glenn Stewart, John Sutton, Ben Lowe and Thomas Burgess and we were without Merrin, Cooper and Dugan for most of the game but until we took our halves off, we were better than what they put on the paddock.

Brisbane slipped down the list in my expectations last night as well. Based on that performance, I reckon that we have their measure.

Souths have fairly top heavy roster. Have a look at their wingers, two has beens in Goodwin and Reddy. If they get few injuries in key positions, they will struggle big time.

Us on the other hand, if we get some injuries at 1, 5, 6 or 9, we have ready made replacements with a heap of first grade experience like matatuia, runciman, keating, Le'strange. Our cap seems to be spread out over a larger group of experienced players.

But Souths are the reigning premiers, so maybe our theory of spreading the risk in case of injuries is archaic.

Oh it's relevant Grouchy but the entire Souths team made inroads into Brisbane and St Helens. My observation is not that we?re on par with Souths but that we?re a lot closer to the rest of the comp than the pundits in the press and Cassandras in this place would credit.

This is going to be a better year for the Dragons than many expect Grouch. Hope it is for you too!

If Saints can REPEAT what they did last season under Mary when they played against the STORM then they will win. Yeah, this so called rubbish coach of the Dragons has a 100% win record against Bellamy so far. Last year they beat them 24-12 (5 tries to 2). Probably the best game they played in 2014.

Also didn't Saints beat the Raiders in Canberra? Bennett didn't accomplish that in 3 seasons and he had a much stronger side? Surely he can't be that bad a coach. After last nights game it looks like Saints may have saved a heap of cash on a coach, lets just hope this cheaper alternative the Saints went for gets better results.

South?s policy on team selection is IMO pretty sound. Lots of Pom and Kiwis so interruption from Origin and other rep duties. This keeps them fresher than other teams at the top of the heap.
Size too is pivotal as those big fellas eat up the metres without having to smash their way through the defence, just rolling on with brute strength.
Only cap pressure will diminish this particular dynasty IMO and Rusty, Packer and Co. may be able to manage TPA?s so that too is not an issue.

Sums up the philosophy of the entire organisation over the last few years.

Another garbage post. You know this how?
So now you're the Head Of Football Operations at the Dragons? You wouldn't know a football from a kicking tee...a TPA from an ACL...a prop from a corner post !
Why not just f**k off and get a clue, dopey. You just embarrass yourself with what little football knowledge you actually have and think that sprouting your crap, just like all the cool kids repetitively do, makes your words have any significance?
Your posts never actually contribute anything of football significance or remotely factual.

lol still trying to Barbrady people out the door.

Your posts are all spin, deflection and bullshit.

Every act of the club has smelled of "on the cheap". The last two coach hirings, one after the other. Surrounding those coaches with former players or sons of directors. Work experience interns runnig the social media department. The fact that Paul McGregor had to ask favours of mates to have the gym and training facilities brought up to a basic standard. Do these acts indicate an organisation that is sparing no expense to achieve excellence? Everything is penny pinching, bargain basement stuff.

keep spinning and looking foolish

Everything? Do you mean like running all the juniors and maybe taking a game to UK?
Attempts to sign Bellamy and Bennett....pretty cheap those guys, hey?
Interns? Prove it...
Asked a few builder mates to help out? Cheap, cost effective and others have done it, so? Probably given match tickets in lieu of cash. Tell me what you saw when you went to the Gym? Are you also the strength and conditioning coach and YOU recognised what equipment was needed since Bennett left? What programmes did you implement? Did you know that a lot of the gym work is done at Wollongong Uni?
Mulholland, Liz Street...bargain basement? Don't think so.
It is clear to me you have never run a business. Combine this with you not really having a clue about the NRL or rugby league and your pathetic attempt at disputing my point once again shows you simply do not know what you are talking about. Please stop for your own sake.

Dugan, Thompson, Widdop, Marshall... yes yes, EVERYTHING is on the cheap.
pure facts from mr know it all.
Grouch, you gotta stop letting your hatred of the club letting such dumb things come out your mouth.
yes, the club is badly run, yes we are screwed without TPA's, yes its dousts and the boards fault.. but lets not let that lead to such silly comments.
We are in a position that we cant have the australian team as our starting 13. We have to mix cheap with a solid spine... which we have.
but to say everything is cheap is wrong... you got too much negativity and its making every one of your posts repitive and boring.
Try giving credit where credit is due....
