Not long to go. It's getting exciting, can't wait!! The footy is back!!!

Eels are outsiders, playing around $2.05, not bad odds considering the injuries manly have.

If we are any chance of going anywhere this year we should seriously be looking at smashing them.

I'll be happy if we win through a good effort. I'd rather us go through our structures in attack and make sure we're keeping a quick defensive line and win by a converted try than go out there and forget what we've learned in the off-season and beat them by 40 points.

In saying this though, I'll be happy if we go through the structure and then when we're in a comfortable position then we play more ad-lib footy and try to attack them off the park.

Pauli should have coat-hangered him and pushed him in the harbour.

EELS predicted side. ..

Will Hopoate, Semi Radradra, Brad Takairangi, Beau Champion, Reece Robinson, Corey Norman, Chris Sandow, Tim Mannah, Nathan Peats, Darcy Lussick, Manu Ma’u, Tepai Moeroa, Anthony Watmough. Interchange: Junior Paulo, Joseph Paulo, David Gower, Isaac De Gois

Notable absentees:*Kenny Edwards (ACL, season), Kaysa Pritchard (pectoral, season), Pauli Pauli, Peni Terepo, Richie Fa’aoso, Danny Wicks, Bureta Faraimo, Ryan Morgan, Vai Toutai, John Folau, Ben Crooks, Cody Nelson, Adam Quinlan, Luke Kelly

Comment:*Chris Sandow (ankle) and Brad Takairangi (ankle) are set to be fit for round one. We’ve slotted them straight into the starting side, with halfback Luke Kelly and centre Ryan Morgan making way from Saturday’s trial team. Nathan Peats returned on the weekend, but expect him to share the hooking duties with Isaac De Gois - at least until he builds up match fitness. Will Hopoate (groin) also returned on the weekend and will take Jarryd Hayne’s slot at fullback. Star recruit Anthony Watmough slots straight in at lock, with the powerful combination of Manu Ma’u and Tepai Moeroa to run the fringes.

That'd be the side I'd go with except I'd take out Sef Paulo and put in Pauli Pauli. That way we have a player who has trained on the edge. Gower can play both on the edge and in the middle but I'd rather him playing solely in the middle, his offload is way too effective there and he doesn't really provide great impact out wide much like Pauli does.

If we're looking to play a middle half I've got no doubts that either Peats or De Gois would be able to provide a similar role in the game.
