Semi Radradra and Chris Sandow both feature in RLW's Round 1 Team of the Week. Both earned a rating of 8/10 for their efforts against Manly.

RLW also seem to be doing an AFL-esque 'Rising Rookie of the Week'. This week's nomination is the talented and versatile Tui Lolohea from the Warriors but the prerequisite for candidacy is 10 or less NRL games coming into the 2015 season which means Tepai qualifies.

Hey Forty20 I spoke to a guy close to the juniors and he rates Tyrell Faumino (sic) as our best junior forward and close to Tepai. Do you agree?

Fuimaono is an outstanding prospect and the appraisal as our best junior forward (given that Moeroa is playing NRL) is hard to dispute, although Josh Aloiai and maybe Alex Twal deserve to be mentioned in the conversation. He was very good in the NYC last year considering the age disparity he faced and the fact that he bounced between centre and backrow. He looked dominant in the preseason and although he was part of the edge (playing at right centre) that was slaughtered by Tom Trbojevic last week I think that was an anomaly and should be rectified against the Dogs.

While Aloiai plays a game that is quite similar to Tepai's, Fuimaono has more finesse in his touches - although he is quite capable of aggressive footy as well. Good footwork before and into contact combined with deft ball skills make him a threat on the edge while physically (188cm) he falls between Aloiai (185cm) and Moeroa (190cm). He will still be eligible for the NYC in 2016 so it will be very interesting to see where he stands both later this year and in the following season but between the three players just mentioned we have the makings of a very good young backrow.

I'd be moving Tyrell back into the second-row and be putting one of our other centres where Tyrell played Friday afternoon. We have a lot of middle forwards and as such we're putting middle forwards: Jordan Muna, and Tepai Tepu-Smith out on the edge when our other players need a break.

The most intriguing statistics from round one were surely those concerning completion rates. Only four teams had a completion rate below 69 per cent. Yet those four teams – Roosters (61per cent), Souths (66 per cent), Parramatta (68 per cent) and Penrith (68 per cent) were easily the most impressive winners. Between them they scored 42 per cent of the round one tries.

Conversely, the most disappointing team of the weekend – Manly – had the best completion rate (80 per cent) of all 16 teams. While coaches constantly talk about striving for high completion rates, the results on the weekend prove yet again that it is far more important what you do with the ball when you have it, rather than how many times in a match you get to a last-tackle kick.

Dally M Votes: Rd.1 vs Manly

3. Chris Sandow
2. Tepai Moeroa (lol)
1. Corey Norman

Don't get me wrong, I love Tepai as much as anyone else but in a game that also featured excellent efforts from the likes of Tim Mannah, Brad Takairangi, Semi Radradra and Isaac De Gois, Tepai didn't warrant any Dally M votes in my opinion. I don't think Sterlo is a Dally M judge so I am going to guess that Andrew Johns was the one to cast the votes on Friday.

tepai had 4 missed tackles and 2 errors. He put a few good hits on but no way was he 2nd best on ground.

I'm sure he ran the ball as much as the gameplan dictated. But how does a bloke get Dally M points when he does f**k all in attack?

it may be that the dallym judge looked at the high completion rate of manly and decided that parramattas defence and not its attack was a major contributing factor to the win.

If so, some of Tepais hits could be seen as being crucial to the win, hence he gets 2 points.

Just saying.

if so then i'd have Lussick above Tepai, he belted Lawrence into forcing an error and his intensity was high all game. I'd have Ma'u up before Moeroa then too
