My take aways

Negatives
Kicking game terrible as always

Defence ordinary overall lacking ferocity

Line speed non existent allowing them too much time

Gutho & Cook disappointing

Sua & Illias not gelling in defence

Feagai being picked a mystery

Too much play to the right hand side

We looked and played disorganised in attack and defence especially in key moments.

Use of Liddle bewildering

Horrendous injury for R C

Positives
It was only round 1

Despite copping plenty of dud decisions we toughed it out and played til the end

Other than poor Feagai no one was horrendous

There are glimpses of better things to come especially around V H

We didn’t do a lot of dumb shit things albeit the time penalty on the scrum was bad

We have a better platform to build on this year than last

A decent video session should see us improve in a few areas next week.

Liddle showed his class yet again should be extended asap.

Whilst I was unable to attend today due to attendance at another event (who in their right mind decides to organise a wedding on the opening Saturday of the season)...

Too many errors which lead to conceding field position which lead to plenty scored against us.

I was overall impressed that we didn't give up. Gutho, Cookie and Val will net not let the rest of the team clock off. This will rub off on the rest of the group and all else who either come to the club or get promoted in the next few years.

I did manage to catch a little bit of NSW Cup on the Fox League coverage. I want to see Cody Ramsey back on the wing as soon as possible. Flanno was very grounded when asked about him during post match... but this guy is the ultimate competitor and a great story in the making. He isn't going to let anyone down, and it can only bring positive vibes to the group as we go forward.

Important for us all not to get too far ahead. The negatives from today are fixable. Many positives ahead.

Unfortunately the negatives from today have been the same negatives for the past how many seasons…. and no one seems to be able to fix them

once again a full house with everything to play for and we dish up rubbish… everyone leaves the ground disillusioned mad saying the same thing…. Not coming back soon to see that rabble…

Just watched it and was so disappointed that I almost turned it off after Sitili's 2nd try.
Our middles copped a pasting and Ryan's season ending already left me feeling flat. The Bulldogs got out of yardage way too easily for my liking and their rucks felt much quicker than ours. The spine was meh bar Liddle and although the scoreline flattered us in the end hopefully today wasn't a preview of what our season is going to be.

I left 25 minutes early yep go ahead tell me I'm not a real fan. But what I witnessed was pretty pathetic. First game of the year against our arch rivals at our spiritual home ground and that's what they dish is.

I don't understand why we signed and aging Cook, Liddle was amongst our best players last year. People were so caught up in their dislike for Ben Hunt they were diluted into thinking Ilias was a good signing he sucked before he got injured and he sucks worse now the most unimaginative halfback in the league thankfully we have Atkinson but that's another season away. We've known this for ages but we need props bad we also need speed bad how the hell did Feagai get selected he's played 1 good game from about 60.

I'm annoyed as hell rant over

Give ilias time souths fans use to say that now your fans are saying the same thing its called a sheep mentality I rated ilias the worst #7 to play the game of rugby league.. infact ile go as far to say he would also be the worst #7 in super league in the half back position...p.s. good luck getting rid of him i popped three bottles of champagne the day he left and im still cheering..

You sure it was champagne you popped? Doesn’t sound like what a Souths fan drinks…

Illias is definitely the signing I am most dubious over. Despite what you think or feel of Hunt they are still pretty big boots to fill (not in a sense of accomplishments). Of course you have to give Illias a chance but could this Jonah Glover be ready to step in soon?
Well there goes your credibility right there with that last sentence. Obviously haven’t seen him play but would consider giving him a NRL promotion!

I'm so tired of going to Kogarah and seeing that rubbish.

A full house and we are treated to that. 4 mistakes, 4 tries.

Feagai can't be picked again, every kick went to him and don't care who we sign, Molo needs to be shipped off tomorrow.

Good on CT for showing some passion. Wish we had more of that.

LOL when the ground announcer asked for some noise, I'll yell my arse off but not after seeing that.

Props to T Couchman and Stewart, had a dig. Would have liked to see more time for Liddle and RFM, JDB head knock didn't help but same old Dragon's football.
I interpreted CTs “ passion “ differently. Carried on like a knob and what’s this show me the money shit ? Is his manager negotiating a contract renewal?
