I interpreted CTs “ passion “ differently. Carried on like a knob and what’s this show me the money shit ? Is his manager negotiating a contract renewal?
I hope the coach gave him a rocket.

We don't need this type of player any more. Very shortsighted by CT and selfish carry on.

By the last try Kyle just ran up and took the ball from him.

Im OK with a silly try celebration when you’re up 36-4 and tries are coming regularly.
I am still shaking my head and the try celebrations last night, especially trailing by 18 points. What was he thinking? Definitely not thinking about the team, did he have a bet on with his mates or some shit?
surely he can’t be good for culture ?

I know it is very early, but surely our Ruggy World Sevens Player of The Year - who is an elite sprinter and who has been proven by the bronco fitness test to have elite levels of fitness - would be the ideal man to get in their faces.

The sevens guys are very, very fit.

Watched the nsw cup game, he got into some space and was mowed down extremely quickly. Ramsey and Sloan in support caught up to him within a matter of meters. Thats not to say he’s not an elite sprinter, could have been fatigue etc, but I don’t know if he’s the man at this stage

Elite sprinter haha. He got chased down in reserve grade yesterday. I don’t think he even matches motors with Sloan.

Abit off topic here , though thought I’d air my disappointment .. last night I payed $315 a ticket for an open air box with few other friends.
The service was poor, service people were too busy talking to each other then trying to serve us.
The “lunch”/“main” they brought was absolutely disgusting. Jail get served better food than this. Was an Indian dish in a silver tray which lacked taste and looked very un appealing.
Then just after half time, party pies & sausage rolls come out and the pies were undercooked and felt like they had come out of the microwave 1 hour prior.
I will pay money to enjoy a good day out but this was appalling. How do we expect to attract more “cooperate” people when we dish this out. Absolutely disgusting!!

Just watched it and was so disappointed that I almost turned it off after Sitili's 2nd try.
Our middles copped a pasting and Ryan's season ending already left me feeling flat. The Bulldogs got out of yardage way too easily for my liking and their rucks felt much quicker than ours. The spine was meh bar Liddle and although the scoreline flattered us in the end hopefully today wasn't a preview of what our season is going to be.
Doggies are one of the best team in extra work in tackles. They have a million tactics to slow down the tackled player. I don't know how they are allowed to get away with it. Our players had to fight tooth and nail to get up and play the ball. They've also perfected the move where a player is pressed to the ground by the ball carrying arm and then force and movement s applied and the player cannot hold the ball as the physics of it makes it impossible. Emre Gulers first run is an example. No matter how strong a hold you have on the ball, it is impossible to keep grip of the ball.

Yes really don't think one of his kicks found empty space.

How often does Bennett get it wrong when it comes to getting rid bad players? Pretty bloody rarely if we are being honest here.
Pretty sure he’s on a one year contract only, and Atkinson is on his way next year

The most powerful form of existence JC can't save this s*** club.
Rid of the merger, at least we can say we have 15 premierships, not one. Not one good player wants to come or stay.
Also D Young must be sacked

Our achilles heel this year was always going to be the front row. I was saying it all off season. Just like last year and the year before and the years before that our front row just can't get us down the other end of the field. We were stuck coming out of our own end all game. I really think it is worth trying LPT and playing him in short bursts to try and get some forward momentum. And yes roll the dice on Klemmer - it can't be any worse.
I'm certainly sick of watching one end of the field all game.

This team has more points in it than last years side. The problem will be getting enough scoring opportunities and staying close enough to the opposition to make those points count.

Defence in the middle still soft. Line speed non existent. Kick pressure completely absent. Why?
And if one team is blatantly allowed to slow down the ruck, then we need to do the same.

Very worried about the halfback situation even if I'll be forever happy that Hunt has gone.

Didn't understand the Feagai selection but our poor kick chase made sure he was in for a rough day. But yeah, we had better options available in a round one game.

Don't understand the criticism of Cook I've read from some people - I thought he was good. Needs a front row that gets us field position and faster play the balls.

Any way, It's round 1, let's dust ourselves off and rip Souffs a new one next week .If we can't beat them then I'll start to worry properly.

Just watched the replay.

The side came out with the weight of expectation on their shoulders and struggled mentally.

We clearly lost the forward yardage battle. The halves play suffered as a result of this.

I am not a stats man but I felt that Cook did a lot of defending and should have been replaced by Liddle after 30 minutes.

Burton was not pressured at all when bombing Fegai’s corner. Consequently Fegai was constantly under intense pressure. That’s on either Flanno or non-execution of the game plan.

Ilias needs game time. Too early to judge him. If he isn’t significantly better within 4-6 weeks, I would promote LKT who played very well in KOE Cup yesterday.

Gutho missing Montoya is less excusable.

Sloan scored some tries yesterday and constantly out leaped his opposite number but his positional play in defence caused as many tries as he scored.

Finau also let in a try with poor positional play. We badly need speed, but without the defensive liability.

Too many mistakes. Poor execution. Failure to adapt to Bulldogs excellent defence is why we lost.

2 HIA’s and Ryan Coachman’s injury unsettled the side.

Like the look of young Hamish Stewart. Strong defender.

Blake Wilson try clearly a forward pass. No mention of it in Fox commentary. Deduct those 6 points and assume Valentine Holmes makes a couple of those kicks and we win the game.

Bulldogs player takes kickoff and clearly steps onto dead ball line. Touch judge ignores it They then get a cheap penalty, field position and score. Another try that shouldn’t have occurred.Stitched up again by the NRL Joke.

My take aways

Negatives
Kicking game terrible as always

Defence ordinary overall lacking ferocity

Line speed non existent allowing them too much time

Gutho & Cook disappointing

Sua & Illias not gelling in defence

Feagai being picked a mystery

Too much play to the right hand side

We looked and played disorganised in attack and defence especially in key moments.

Use of Liddle bewildering

Horrendous injury for R C

Positives
It was only round 1

Despite copping plenty of dud decisions we toughed it out and played til the end

Other than poor Feagai no one was horrendous

There are glimpses of better things to come especially around V H

We didn’t do a lot of dumb shit things albeit the time penalty on the scrum was bad

We have a better platform to build on this year than last

A decent video session should see us improve in a few areas next week.

Liddle showed his class yet again should be extended asap.

Pretty well summarised OT.

We defeated ourselves with our simple errors in our half which cost us field position and points. When we decided to hold the ball and got field position we scored 3 tries while only having a few play the balls in bulldogs 20m in the whole second half. Our attack was very clinical. If we completed at 80% we would’ve won. They couldn’t contain our attack in their 20m. We just didn’t get to their 20m much due to too many errors.

Bulldogs also scored off a clear forward pass for Wilson’s try. I couldn’t believe the touchy missed it. I was high up in the stands and could clearly see it was way forward. Absolute joke.

Liddle absolutely carved up and changed the game when he was on for 25 mins. He should’ve played way longer. At least 40 mins and we should’ve put cook at 13 for at least 30 mins while was liddle on. We would’ve won the game. So frustrating.

Agree with everything you said apart from Cook who I thought was on the field far too long.

I think that is pretty harsh

the side was starting its set from 10-15m out from our line

unsure what you expected from Ilias and Flanno Jr

We were rarely close enough to put in attacking kicks
Not a criticism of our halves, just suggesting the dogs speed and pressure didn’t give them time and space. Burtons kicks were pinpoint and they chased hard pinning us on our 10/20metre line. Our kicking was less precise and straight to their fullback with no chasers.
