I thought a lot of positives; some great tries we scored. What I don't understand however, is why we aren't starting well,'why we aren't chasing; why we aren't putting on pressure on Burton from the get go; why we make mistakes continually at crucial times. Easy to explain it away later but harder to change into a regular habit. Hope the change comes soon. There's a good side in there developing...

I can only imagine how furious the coach would be over the Francis Molo thing.
If Guler is suspended and Sele/Lawrie still unavailable...it gets more dire.
We've just got rid of a major road block in Hunt and then this presents at the worst possible time.
Agree every word. Evidently our Board is the problem as Franks agent says ''it is not about money but his clients welfare''. Do we believe that?

If the game was 5 minutes longer we would have beaten them. Bulldogs had ran out of puff. The reason was that at the beginning of the game dogs had 3 defenders at every tackle. They were running a very compressed defensive line. By the third quarter they had ran out of the puff. That was when we ran 3 unanswered tries. I think Flanno had realised it and hence more shifting of the ball in the second half.

I agree with a lot of people that Liddle should get more time (40 to 50 min minimum). Cook was a target and had to make 40 tackles (behind Couchman and Guler).

Feagai was missing in action yesterday. I think time for Sloan or Finau to take that wing spot.

It will be a shame if we lose Guler (on report) for next week. It will mean JDB to go to front row and possibly M Molo or LPT will take bench spot (Dont think Sele or Lawry are fit yet).

Just watched the replay.

The side came out with the weight of expectation on their shoulders and struggled mentally.

We clearly lost the forward yardage battle. The halves play suffered as a result of this.

I am not a stats man but I felt that Cook did a lot of defending and should have been replaced by Liddle after 30 minutes.

Burton was not pressured at all when bombing Fegai’s corner. Consequently Fegai was constantly under intense pressure. That’s on either Flanno or non-execution of the game plan.

Ilias needs game time. Too early to judge him. If he isn’t significantly better within 4-6 weeks, I would promote LKT who played very well in KOE Cup yesterday.

Gutho missing Montoya is less excusable.

Sloan scored some tries yesterday and constantly out leaped his opposite number but his positional play in defence caused as many tries as he scored.

Finau also let in a try with poor positional play. We badly need speed, but without the defensive liability.

Too many mistakes. Poor execution. Failure to adapt to Bulldogs excellent defence is why we lost.

2 HIA’s and Ryan Coachman’s injury unsettled the side.

Like the look of young Hamish Stewart. Strong defender.

Blake Wilson try clearly a forward pass. No mention of it in Fox commentary. Deduct those 6 points and assume Valentine Holmes makes a couple of those kicks and we win the game.

Bulldogs player takes kickoff and clearly steps onto dead ball line. Touch judge ignores it They then get a cheap penalty, field position and score. Another try that shouldn’t have occurred.Stitched up again by the NRL Joke.
well summed up

Ilias is terrible unfortunately.. always was at souths, he's not going to get better. I really really hope I'm wrong, but I just don't think he has it
I was disappointed with him game 1 really thought he would have been better , but in saying that our forwards got dominated ........ So I'm willing to give him 6 games or so then reassess ........ It's really his first game back from a bad injury , so let's hope he improves everything game ........ Time will tell .......

concerning still how fast off the line the Dogs are vs us.

It left us struggling to roll down the field which then created opportunities for straight runners at our line and blood big torpedos to catch !

Panthers and Dogs are both very fast teams off their line in defence. The kicking game by Burton is elite and geese he would be nice to have at 5/8.

We need to make a faster defensive line our DNA asap to force mistakes and set the pace of the game............overall though I saw enough that we can fix and there is some really good experience in there.

JDB and Ryan going off for periods didnt help and blood Stewart 20yr old out played RFM by a country mile.........RFM is going to loose his spot before he knows it

He threw a few hospital passes. Bloody hell, I remember when Sexton was available last year. Would’ve loved to see the dragons sign him. But we had some merkin named Hunt taking up half our salary cap who farked off anyway.

All the good teams are fast off the line. To be a good team you have to be fast off the line. So why the hell aren’t the dragons doing the same thing as the good teams? Every year the dragons are off the pace with what the good teams do. If you look up mediocrity in the dictionary, there’s a picture of the St George Illawarra emblem

Tough night for our back 5 in ball returns. Burton has the ball on a string. Height perfect and lands in our hands as soon as his defenders reach out. So missing out on 10-20m on tackle one.
Really lacking go forward and I’ve read klemmer will be coming in next week, though not sure how much or a difference in meters it’ll make.
Ryan ACL, so tough for the young fella.
Tough having two 9’s, I really thought liddle would come on early and one of them would play 13 though didn’t happen but lids changed the game. Though dogs were tiring.

Tough loss to take round 1. Coaching staff stayed in the box 15mins after full time , full of anger. Weren’t happy
Why wasn't our edge forwards given the job of rushing Burton on the last tackle?
Why didn't the coach switch the two wingers when it beome known that they were targeting Feagai?
Why wasn't Ilias told to stand deeper on for kicks on the last tackle?
So many of our players had a poor game.

I agree with you, the dogs were running out of puff. But the real reason we didn't win was that we could not hold onto the ball and our game plan sucked.
