I'm not sure what the relevance of the question is mate. Myself and more and more Dragons supporters after each loss, have realised that Flanagan is not the man for the job. This premise that because someone wants the coach sacked, means they need to come up with a big list of contenders of who the next coach should be, is just absurd.

Can you honestly say you're happy with what you've seen so far from Flanagan as coach? If so, then how long does he get until you start to criticise? How much time do you think is fair amount of time for him to have a better than 50% win record as our head coach?

These are much more pertinent questions than asking everyone who criticises Flanagan to then put forward alternatives.

Finally in answer to your question, I think there are some old school coaches who could potentially do a better job and some new school coaches who have served apprenticeships under some of the best and would be ready for the step up.
Seeing as the old school approach has failed us, I'd be keen to see a new school coach take the reigns on the caveat that they also get full control over the management of the club as well, much like the things Ryles demanded when he was about to become our coach.
What’s the relevance of the question? The relevance is that you harp on about Flanagan, so if you’re going to say all that about him, you might as well have an alternative solution. Listing approaches like old school and new school is not that, nor does it make any sense, and you know it. You mentioned vague alternatives because you know that there’s nobody on the market, and thus whoever DOES replace him in the short term will probably do a worse job.

New school like Ryles and Fitzgibbon who knocked us back or maybe Hannay who I don’t think even applied. The job is a poisoned chalice.

The same posters typing up a storm after a loss and invisible like Mandrake the Magician after a win. All agenda driven. He obviously wants Dean Young or Ben Hornby. I think he might be Craig Young using a couple of different accounts that are so similar. How anybody could think Dean Young would do a better job than Flanno is absolutely crazy. Have to be related to think such a DUMB thing

Yes such a profound argument from you and I knew that's where you were going with it too.

So your logic is there's no better coaches than Flanagan?

Even though to date the results he has produced as our coach have been substandard at best with no sign of improvement year on year, your view is that we stick with Flanagan for as long as it takes until someone you perceive as better comes along?

This demonstrates how ill-considered the thoughts of fellow supporters can be. They really convince themselves it doesn't get any better than this, so let's just pipe down, accept the status quo and hope for the best.

I for one love this team and club too much to settle for mediocrity and would implore you to start thinking of how the approach of supporters can also enable the mediocrity in the club to spread from the bottom up.

I was never keen on Cook for 2 reasons

1. Liddle better
2. to carry 2 hookers seemed a luxury Dragons can't afford - especially with bench rotation of forwards

Against the warriors we need to match them in the forwards

So I have what is probably a very left-field suggestion.

Drop Cook, play Leilua at 5/8 and Kyle hooker for the first 15 mins
Bring on Liddle for the rest of the game

That brings an extra forward into the game

No dramas if you want Flanno gone, everyone has their opinions. Who would you suggest takes over as coach if Flanno is replaced??

Well said. Where is this new CEO, finishing up some more important work elsewhere I understand? Holding pattern for certain. Can't even show any urgency from the top , like we are some amateur park footy team. I mean somewhere along the way Dragons fans have been forced into accepting nonsense like this...meanwhile tick tick goes the clock on the next season, and the next.

Sorry, I am filthy on the club. A few things go slightly differently on the field and we are in second place on the ladder. Then, even though nothing fundamentally nothing has changed, I am happy, you are happy and everyone is excited. That's the reality as fickle as it all seems. You are never as good or as bad as the media purports (unless you are Penrith). Unfortunately we did lose those games so I am going to vent here because nothing is truly changing at the joint.

I am so hanging out to heap praise on the players and team and I do this I feel at most opportunities but it's about winning and at the least building to something and that's hard to see, especially when you look at the likes of Tamale and Latu rubbing our face in it.

You originally said we should discuss how we can win this game. That is what the thread is for I suppose.
How do you think we beat the Warriors? Can our players actually play to a game plan and sustain it for 80 minutes? And can they do it the week after? Am I expecting too much?
The Wahs are going well but always have that hot & cold factor away from home, so we need to start well. Using Lulia & Debellin off the bench works well . Last chance Sloan as we may need his pace.Debut for LBT as Gulia has shown nothing.Gutherson is due a better game but control of the ball is vital From all players .They all should be very shitty after last week ( we are ! ) so extra motivated you would think.

All this pretentiousness, and yet you still can't defend your stance. Have fun pulling your 'old school' or 'new school' coach out of a hat.

Loved DY as a player, all heart and effort. As our head coach, jeez I don’t like that. Nowhere near ready for a full time 1st grade gig. I think you’re on the money but I’m shitting bricks if that was to happen in the near future

Dean Young had a go as caretaker coach did nothing. Dean as defensive coach leaves a lot to be desired

Same for me, if Young gets the top Coach job I'm out. And you know it'd be long term no matter how hopeless he turns out to be.

The Warriors are going ok......at home. They've won all their NZ games but only one of their 3 away games and that was a 2 point win over Wests. They also have won just 2 from 14 at WIN.
We've also scored more points than them believe it or not, plus a thousand bombed tries.
I think we're building for a win and I think at home against the sheep-botherers we can get it done.

Its bye bye to the Dragons- meaning that if Flanno is going to continuously pick players like Sloan when they are both out of their depth and, in Sloan's case, showing all the signs of sulking, then the upcoming two byes before Round 16 are the only points we will pick up over the next seven rounds. The Warriors, Broncos, Knights, Dolphins and Sharks all have better teams than us- although- and I can't believe I'm saying this, I rate the Broncs as the team we may have the best chance against.
So much for Flanno's aggressive boast that we won't be picking up the spoon. Open...Wide
