Can I just say, can you imagine the absolute crap a club like us or the Tigers, Tits, Dragons etc. would get if we handled our recruitment like the Roosters did with this? Poached a star young winger who was developing well, broke them, and then 18 months later trying to get out of the contract? We’d be criticised from all angles, and yet the Roosters are getting lauded for being proactive. What a double standard.

The Roosters never fail a player! They are only failed by others!

Not Terrell May, who's arguably the second best prop in the game right now.

Not Brandon Smith, one of the most feared impact players in the game at Melbourne, now almost an object of ridicule.

Not Spencer Leniu, see Smith, Brandon but for Penrith, now a plodder.

And not Dom Young.

Nope. No pattern here at all. The Roosters are simply not just what the Tigers would be like if they were located in Bondi, had business connections out their butt, and the entire Sydney media in their pocket. There's nothing similar about Uncle Nick - who has more pictures of himself up at Roosters HQ than any one player - and Lee Hagipentalis. At all. How dare you even suggest that.

Feel bad for the big lad. But at least he is now aware the bright lights are fool’s gold. Especially when you are killing it where you were and just left despite being arguably the best winger in The comp at the time.

I'm concerned given we're not really a club that fixes players, and it is beyond doubt that Dom is broken right now. But at the right price it's worth bringing him back. Schiller has less errors in him than Dom but 2023 Dom shits all over him with the ball in hand.

Reckon he ends up at Souffs, they are busted out wide and Bennett will get in his ear. Won't have to move.

If he came back here, I don't think he walks back in to firsts, Schiller is doing well.

Richie reported on 360 he spoke with the Knights this afternoon:

- We’d be keen to sign Dom for the rest of this year and 2 more seasons but the deal would have to work for us. If not (I.e. the Roosters aren’t happy to put in serious money) we’re not interested in bringing him back. He said we acknowledged we’d made a few poor mid season signings before and don’t want to repeat it.
- Richie said we think the Roosters are trying to move Dom on to get DCE, and that’s not our problem.
- We wouldn’t entertain Dom going to another club this year then back to us for 2026. It would be now or never.

All really pleasing to hear tbh. Would be really happy to have Dom back if it was on our terms only. My biggest concern would be us getting bullied by the Roosters into just taking him back and paying his whole contract when he’s not our area of biggest need.

Yeah, happy enough with that. If we get him, we get him. We do have bigger problems.

What could the Roosters possibly do to "bully" us into taking him back at full freight?

They have zero leverage

They don’t, but there’s obviously been a long period of our history where we would have 100% laid down in a situation like this and agreed to whatever it was the Roosters wanted. The club has long been too nice for its own good. The concern about that type of thing is hard to break.

Imo you can’t undervalue the fact that he was here before and thrived in the environment and knows most of the playing group already too. In fact wasn’t KPP also a mate of his when they were both in the ESL?

If he goes to any other club he’ll be having to assimilate into a totally new group and work under a new coach.

That being said we’re not signing him to play reserve grade. Schiller has been a mixed bag imo.

I can just imagine us agreeing to trade KP for Dom, paying full freight for Dom and also paying out KP’s contract in the process. Then us also throwing in a few promising juniors to sweeten the deal.

You sure this article isn't confusing us with another club that's actually competent? I thought we would have had someone drive down already, get down on one knee and beg for Dom to come back. Then offer the Roosters extra transfer money or something.

All the above sounds good. If it was a good middle or something, I'd be all for it but Dom left on such a high note. Don't know how I'd feel if he tarnished his reputation by being a dud in his second stint here.
