Saints have improved imo. Last year this time Saints won 1 game more but only scored 164 points and leaked 234 against (-70) to sit 13th. The losses they had were mostly 20+ bar the Sharks game were they lost 20-10 but Saints were very ordinary and Sharks looked like they were having a training run.
This year they have scored 184 (20pts more) without our so called super stars in Hunt and Lomax and more importantly leaked 198 points 36 less currently on -14 to sit 10th. That is a 54 pts improvement. And this includes a win against the Storm. They could easily be on 14 pts equal with 2nd place if not for some lapses in play. Hopefully those games can be used as learning and experience.
I am not feeling confident this week but it is at WIN and their record there is pretty solid hence why they should play more games there. I live closer to Kogarah but if it means winning games take them to WIN for sure. If they can knock the Warriors off this week they play a Broncos team that as we saw against the last placed Panthers can have a shocker in them. Ezra Mam may return next week which will add some extra pressure on them.
If Saints can knock off both Warriors and Bronco's, this could be the tonic to changing their season and giving them confidence to excel and play themselves into a finls series. Especially if LKT and Tonga have good games. That will be 5 juniors starting their seasons off to replace has these old hasbeens we are used to seeing continually not play to NRL standard. I hope Tonga has a cracking debut. If he does this only points to a very positive future for the Dragons.
Having Cook has been a great signing however I don't feel he is being used properly. He is a great signing as I would prefer the hooker rotation to be Cook and Liddle rather than Liddle and Mulheisen. Definitely an upgrade to Mulheisen. Good player Mul but not an NRL player for me just a very good Cup player. All Flanno needs to do is get the balance right and give Liddle more time.
