2 positives from that game:
1. Talagi was fantastic
2. 1 point is better than 0 points.
Yeah a draw is definitely an upgrade on a loss.

Also thought Leota had arguably his best game of the year. Garner was really strong too. A double in the centres. Not a bad night out.

Bizza was rusty but had some flashes of the beast we have missed. It wasnt all bad. But the game was there to be won and our hooker failed epically all night at getting the ball to the right player. Ivan failed at giving us a decent alternative on the bench.

Sommerton earned s spot last week. Its karma he didn’t get it and we lost largely because our 9 made poor decisions at crucial times

Had very little to do with our draw.

Individuals making silly decisions. Kenny number 1. No bench fixes that.

Yeah, Sommerton on the Bench means we could hook Kenny who honestly had an awful game offensively.

Sommerton was excellent last week and was a big part of how we developed momentum.

Kenny was a zombie out there tonight.

Ivan will go down as a great and deservedly so but he can really make some cooked decisions.

Also, Cleary can't be expected to ice that game if the forwards have run out of juice and your hooker either gives you passes at your head or refuses to give it to you at all.

Cleary could have demanded the ball!!! Instead he looked uncharacteristically meek. It was weird seeing him basically have the exactly the opposite attitude/performance as last week.

We put ourselves in a position to be robbed, and the NRL didn’t miss. It’ll probably come back around but we’re not looking good enough.

Go with the side that’ll be our best bet if we make the finals, McLean to centre, no Jenkins if no-one is injured, Garner on the bench, give the forwards proper rests, and let the chips fall where they may. If we don’t make the finals because we’re too green on the edges and are rotating forwards then so be it, the cap has caught up with us and the hunger just can’t be the same after four straight, consider it a rebuilding season, we should think long term, it’s not all or nothing this season, we’re not a one window season club.

Its had PLENTY to do with it. Our middles were f**king cooked

30-18 cooked?

If your argument is that we win 20+ sure. As the game stood Penrith had it won easily and threw it away on poor individual moments which didn't appear to be due to fatigue.

We handled the Cowboys well who were always fantastic. Just didn't have the smarts to finish them off.

You’re all being too hard on Kenny, he read the defence, they’d have been all over the fg attempt.

Why we let them back after being up by 12 twice is the question and fatigue played a part. But a 14 to play relief Hooker should probably be part of the equation.

Why don't teams take field goals when they are on offer, for example we had the ball 30 secs out from halftime just take the 1 point and go up 19-12.We are up by 12 with 13 mins to go once again take the 1 point go 13 up and ball back its game over.Lindsay smith is a plodder that dumb penalty for a strip when we had them 10 out from there line changed the game

Bot much of an Ivan play though is it?

If anything he'd play both Kenny and Sommerton in that final 20.

I get it with the 14. It's a 'luxury' to have Brad Schneider on the bench. But surely our whole 17 gets a run?? It's Townsville! All hands on deck. The conditions aren't normal for the rest of the year.

While I agree with your overall summation, we were 100% out of juice at the end. We needed to be further ahead, and could have been but for poor moments, but they had much more physically as the game wore on. Look at the impact MacLean had in the back end of the game. That's what the extra forward on the bench should be giving you.

That said, Ivans been picking and using benches like this the whole time, so idk.

And what was the second play?

From memory it didn't look like a play at all. Just pass left and die with the game in our hands.

Tailagi was ready deep on the last field goal attempt. His confidence was sky high I would have thrown him the ball. That is less crazy then Kenny doing duck egg.

Fair enough.

I'd say our extra forward was Garner. We subbed Jenkins on then about 10 minutes later (I think) Tago went off HIA? Garner isn't 80 but he played centre with less work.

He picked a crap bench, I said it before the game. Is what it is
That’s looking at it with blinkers, it wasn’t unreasonable given the options and player form coming into it. No guarantees if he goes another way Jenkins or McLean doesn’t stink it up, or Geyer.

Edwards has had feild goal shots before I may have to be an option to divert away from Cleary .Its just to easy to get lots of players at him.i don’t think we are far off the killer is the discipline .look at the set up we need a player who plays the ball fast as the last hit up giving the kicker more time
