Time to give some youngsters a shot to see how they go. Sims will be out injured and Ford will miss a couple of weeks and it's time to give Merrin & Aitken a rest.

Clune & Sailor in the halves. Give Ellis another shot and give young Blacker a go, plus throw in a couple of those young backs we have coming through.

Sailor comes on and gets busy but other than Mc Innes, Lomax & Dufty the side seems incapable of playing any kind of uptempo football.

He tried hard to get bodies in motion around but alas the rest of the team is obviously not fit enough or smart enough to be fully engaged in such a style of footy.

Watching Keary ignite raids sees all the chooks getting involved to keep the momentum up but when Sailor tries it we find that Hunt disengages or the ball ends up in the hands of one of our many oompa loompas and it it’s like we are stuck in mud.

Defence is an issue for Sailor but that has the potential to be sorted (technique and correct back rower alignment) but the team not being fit or fast enough to keep up with him will see him look more like a chook with his head cut off rather than someone who can lift our attack as a team to another level.

We have no team work in attack or defence and therefore many potentially good players will actually look ordinary as they single handedly try to save our sorry arsed team.

What a mess. What poor structures we have. The defensive efforts on our line are embarrassing.

The few times we got in good attacking positions we offered nothing, so predictable and easy to defend.

The only forward running hard with any conviction is captain courageous. The coach spent half his press conference praising a centre who once again failed a simple task of passing to an unmarked winger to give us a chance. The other week we were up 16 - 10 with Saab unmarked and could of strolled over untouched... I honestly believe that story that reserve grade side beat them at training

I have bagged our backs for a long time but , gee our forwards are piss weak , except for McInnes Fritz , the rest can all go ... What a waste of 7 years its going to take a long time to rebuild ......

Yes, our forwards, with the exception of the two you named Hazzbeen, are piss poor in most facets of attack and defence. Just no grunt and power. We definitely need to get rid of the no hopers and get guys who have a lot more to offer. I am just amazed how we have not got better forwards like most other clubs. Ours are not that big, but you dont need to be just have strength and determination and skill to give the opposition a run for their money.

Same. They tried hard, but you know they'll fail against a decent team.
The elements of a good team are there. It just needs a real coach and some decent recruitment.

Hell Josh Reynolds once did about three in a season & only got fined each time.

St George Illawarra's Jackson Ford facing three week suspension for tripping

St George Illawarra back-rower Jackson Ford could be out for three weeks after being charged with tripping by the NRL's match review committee.

Ford will be sidelined for two games if he takes the early guilty plea, or three matches if he fights the charge and loses at the judiciary, after being hit with a Grade 3 tripping charge.

The incident happened in the 76th minute of the Roosters' 24-14 win over the Dragons.

Roosters star Luke Keary came crashing down on his head as he crossed for a try after Ford came in with a soccer-like slide tackle that Nine's Andrew Johns labelled "dangerous."

"Well that's nearly the send-off offence," Nine's Phil Gould said in commentary.

"In the old days that's a send-off.

"You can't do that. There are ones where you get wrong-footed and you stick a foot out but this is one where he's actually can't get there with his hands and he's kicked out with his legs.

THE Dragons forwards depth is set to be tested, with young-gun Jackson Ford facing a three-week stint on the sideline after being slapped with a grade-three tripping charge.

The charge stems from an incident late in Thursday's loss to the Roosters when Ford made a last ditch effort to prevent Luke Keary from scoring the match-winning try in the 75th minute.

The ban could be reduced to two games with an early guilty plea, which could be entered on Saturday.

The loss is also set to cost the club veteran back-rower Tariq Sims for a stretch after he left the field with an AC joint injury. He'll undergo scans to determine a more solid return timeframe but is facing an extended stint on the sidelines.

It's something the Dragons can ill-afford with Test prop Paul Vaughan missing two games after being ordered into quarantine for breaching COVID protocols on Thursday. It will see all three out of action for Friday's match against the Eels.

Coach Paul McGregor left no doubt as to his feelings about the breach following Thursday's loss.

"We're well aware of what our responsibilities are, we talk about it consistently, so there's no reason for it other than it was selfish behaviour really," McGregor said.

"I haven't spoken to him. We've got a WhatsApp group and I explained the punishment that's been handed to him by the NRL, then concentrated on what we needed to do today.

"It's not what you need from one of your senior players, someone that's important to your footy team. It's disappointing if it was anyone. It's just a behaviour that you shouldn't do.

"We spoke about (doing) whatever it takes and doing the right thing by one another, making sacrifices and that's just one of them. The game's done a lot to get back going so we've got to be respectful of that."

I’d play Host at 12 and Fuimaono off the bench. With three of our outside backs carrying injuries we need to carry a back on the bench. We could play him at centre if need be and move things around. I guess we could do the same with Brittain moving Hunt to 6 and and Sailor into the backs but I’d prefer someone who we can get a stint in the forwards at the end of the game if need be. We are super short up front.
